There’s a chart in the front that covers the timeline of biblical history. Each section of history is color-coded. The highlights of each section of the Bible are colored to match the timeline. This includes chapter numbers section headings, titles and icons used for the short articles, diamond in the header, and the timeline in the footer. Book and Section Introductions The book of Acts clearly highlights the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. Before the coming of the Spirit, Jesus spoke of the Spirit’s influence on the growth of the church (1:8; see John 14:15‑17, 26; 15:26; 16:7‑15). The Spirit’s guidance was clear in the selection of Spirit- filled leaders to care for the needs of the Hellenistic widows (Acts 6:1‑7) and in the appointing of Barnabas and Saul for missionary service (13:1‑5). It’s so helpful to “see” the different walls and gates mentioned in Nehemiah, especially when you’re trying to understand their stilted progress while rebuilding the wall. It’s dark enough to read easily. The only markings in the text is an asterisks to show you there’s a footnote and letters to key to word studies. The text doesn’t feel cramped or have any awkward spaces. This next one might seem out of box, but the Hands-On Bible for kids might be the perfect gift for a mom or grandma who is looking for a way to come together with her family in God’s Word. With questions designed to get conversations started, activities, crafts, and games for the whole family to enjoy, it’s a gift to connect with God and each other through His Word. Despite a pronounced Fundamentalist perspective in the commentary, I think the NLT Illustrated Study Bible is a really valuable product, especially given the limited range of study Bibles available in the New Living Translation. As I was preparing a lesson on how to resist temptation, this helped me explain the importance of clinging to God’s Word and not changing it.
