About this deal

In the Hollywood of those days, everyone knew and respected Jim as a man who could be trusted and always knew how to make things work.

The item was that Marty was prepping a remake of the MGM classic, Boomtown, a Clark Gable/Spencer Tracy buddy movie. On January 14, 2016, it was announced that Wilson Bethel, Adam Arkin and Roxanne Hart would be joining the show to play the Mahoney family. Friends and colleagues have extolled Mahoney for his accomplishments, including, Robert Wagner; “Jim is a class act… one of my closest friends. But the press in the old days were definitely more cooperative and willing to look past the occasional indiscretion for everyone’s mutual benefit.

He had a successful building and interior decorating business – Gable was his client and how I got into the business. DEADLINE: If you could go back and change a story that’s been oft-repeated and isn’t true, what would it be? Twenty minutes or so later I heard voices behind me and turned to see Fidel himself approaching me along with his entourage. If one of them was ever nabbed by the long arm of the law, it was my job to squelch the story before it hit the city desk.

Our families became fast friends, our kids went to the same grammar school, and we went on numerous summer vacations together. My father, Eddie Fisher, and my mother, Debbie Reynolds, were both represented by Jim Mahoney during some of the most important times in their lives. Over the years we’ve had many a laugh both on and off the golf course, and I dearly cherish the times spent with he and his lovely wife Patty.I can only assume he wrote this book after all his clients passed away because it's a very inside look at some very screwed up people, with Marvin causing the most chaos but also coming off as the most sympathetic, as he was dealing a lot of PTSD from the war that was never properly treated in those days. Discovered on a Manhattan street in 2020 and introduced on Stanton’s Humans of New York Instagram page, Johnson, then 76, shares her dynamic history as a “fiercely independent” Black burlesque dancer who used the stage name Tanqueray and became a celebrated fixture in midtown adult theaters. Highly recommended if you love old Hollywood dirt and the way things worked when the studio system went down and all the superstars had to fend for themselves when it came to publicity.
