About this deal

Accordingly there’s quite a few songs that could have been considered or even featured on an extra compilation. Condition - This item is in Excellent condition or better (unless it says otherwise in the above description). Queen had already appeared on volumes 2, 3, 4, 6 and the Christmas album so it was expected that A Kind Of Magic would feature on Now 7. Vote up content that is on-topic, within the rules/guidelines, and will likely stay relevant long-term.

Many of these artists have gone on to become global superstars such as Billie Eilish, Shawn Mendes, Walk The Moon, Maggie Rogers, Rae Sremmurd, Zara Larsson, Jacob Whitesides, and Tate McRae. While other countries had started truncated CD releases a couple of years earlier, their selections also could be a little random.

Three tracks are missing from this reissue: David Bowie’s ‘Absolute Beginners’, ‘On My Own’ (Patti Labelle And Michael McDonald) and The Real Roxanne’s Bang Zoom (Let’s Go Go). Jaki Graham’s Set Me Free makes me want to dance till I drop and is her third successive appearance. They all vary from one to five disc compilations (occasionally six disc), starting in 1986 and continuing to the present day (Jan 2023). Initially, a special edition of a Now compilation was quite rare, and between 1994 and 2002, there weren't any released at all. The only way to hear the early Nows on CD is to rip a near-mint vinyl copy [there’s still a few out there].

Meanwhile for big rock fans – Simple Minds released another track from Once Upon A Time, the improves-with-age All The Things She Said and Big Country’s Look Away [from The Seer] still retains that epic quality. Due to the higher cost of pressing vinyl and the limited time they are available, they are at least three times more expensive than their compact disc counterparts.Elsewhere The Housemartins finally make a breakthrough with the infectious Happy Hour [their third single after the lack of success for Flag Day and Sheep]. Some dispute over whether Big Country is the right mix although I have listened to both single and album mix on YouTube and I can't tell them apart. The Now Yearbook series continues both forwards, with Now Yearbook 1985 issued in November 2022, and backwards, with the release of Now Yearbook 1979 in September 2022 (an Extra followed in October). The original Now Dance series began in 1985 and has been released in a variety of titles, formats, and release frequency. They are also notable as being the first time a Now series had released a compilation of hits from the years 1980 to 1982.Maybe the thing that stops this reissue being a complete disaster is some of the mixes that were expected to be wrong are actually correct although not all. The frequency in which they were released also varied from year to year; initially, and most frequently across the series, there would be one Now Dance volume per year, but in 1994 for example, there were four volumes released, and in 1996, there weren't any Now Dance compilations released. The first sixteen volumes were all released on the same date, with the final four being issued four months later. PS – I think it was short-sighted of EMI and Virgin to delay releasing CD versions [the Now 4 experiment notwithstanding]. David Bowie - Absolute Beginners: Great song from the film of the same name, not included on the 2020 CD release.
