When setting up the Gro-clock, the instructions say to try not to let your child see you setting the clock up and I wish I had of read that first as Mia watched me playing with the clock and she decided she would quite like to ‘set’ the clock herself for the next week! The kiddies have enjoyed staying in bed every morning watching until the sun comes up and I’ve managed to get a bit more sleep. and the controls just aren’t easier, I feel like you need a bloody degree in the clock just to set it. I would definitely recommend this for any child aged 2+ especially if they aren’t the best sleepers. He presses the buttons to choose the night sleep mode and the sun disappears to be replaced by a star surrounded by small stars.

As a lot of parents do I have been dreading the lighter mornings as it means that the kiddies will be getting up even earlier than before so I started to look for a solution. The Gro Clock also conforms to the highest British and European Standards, big pluses in my scientific books, as with all Gro Company products. When I consulted the information book I discovered that it had a function on the clock to combat this in the form of a lock so little fingers can’t mess around with it. Also, the key lock isn’t robust enough as my eldest figured out how to unlock it himself and change the wake up time! I am currently touring Primary, Junior and Prep schools in Devon, reading Master Owl meets Miss Bunny and teaching mindfulness to children aged between 5 and 11 years old.

It did take me a few times to get used to selecting the different functions, but it’s easy to remember now. Many thanks - kinda desperate to start using the clock as 32 weeks pregnant and not getting much sleep due to my 3 year old! This way, your child will wake up and see the sun come out, and create a positive association with their clock,” advise the makers of the Gro Clock. Chopsy Baby just couldn’t believe there was a product in the world that would make a wilful toddler understand that the day doesn’t start at 5am, so we decided it had to be tested.

Prior to starting my writing career, I co-founded the 'Gro Company' in 2000, home of the now famous Grobag baby sleeping bag.

The clock comes with its own bedtime story ‘Sleepy Farm’, to help get across the message how important it is to get a good night’s sleep. A friend recommend be the Gro Clock to me a while ago and I’ve been thinking about getting one to help my eldest to recognise when it’s time to stay in bed or get up. You’re able to set two different wake up times with the Gro Clock which I’ve not done yet as Arjun seems to be sleeping through for now.

Using images of the stars and the sun, and colours to represent each (blue and yellow, respectively), the clock teaches your kid when he’s supposed to be sleeping and when he’s allowed to wake up, using the times you've preset. For some parents this won’t be an instant success, but will help them work with the child to turn it into one. The instructions, I found personally, quite overly confusing, even with only 3 buttons on the clock, the instructions seem a bit tricky to follow.
