honestly when i read this i’m pretty sure it put me into a deep depression, or at least made it worse, but honestly it was worth it. Secondly, all of Punpun's relatives (his father, mother, and uncle on his mother's side) are also depicted as stick figure birds. The difficult part of this book is pondering whether or not you feel bad for him, thus forcing you to think about the choices you've made in your own life, the people you surround yourself with.

Goodnight Punpun, Vol. 1 (1): Asano, Inio: 9781421586205

A cute girl named Aiko transfers into Punpun's class and inspires his dream to colonize the star Punpunia. With every dark turn in the manga, sales dropped, which Asano regretted because his readers were being alienated.Ngay từ nhân vật dã rất kỳ lạ và nhất là Punpun - hoàn cảnh gia đình của Punpun đã khiến mình chạnh lòng ngay từ đầu. The characters all feel real and different, the pacing is well done and never boring, and the subject matter is important. Como ya acostumbra, un dibujo maravilloso contando una historia de miserial moral y degradación: Punpun, un niño representado en un dibujo muy sencillo de un pato, que va a vivir con su tío, luego que su padre termine preso por golpear a su madre. Punpun, having distanced himself from Sachi who is now continuing the manga on her own, starts using a fake name and acting like a completely different person to shield himself from his depression, but ends up running into Aiko by chance.

Goodnight Punpun, Vol. 1 - Goodreads

After finding out about the death of his grandfather, Punpun and his mother visit his home in Ōfuna, where he learns from Midori that Yuichi had come back home and the two had gotten married. It's not said if everyone else sees Punpun and his family different but I doubt it since they all act normal around them. There were a lot of room for your own interpretation which made it almost interactive, thus making you want it more. She lays down on the cot with him and asks if he loves her, if he'll take care of her forever, and he says yes, though terrified by the promise of forever. His interactions are apparently normal: he has schoolmates, a family, a sweetheart, his own unlikely image of God appearing time and again in moments of distress. His mom gets hurt, his dad has to go to jail, his uncle (who isn't much better) moves in to help raise Punpun. He also saw his readers as an enemy when he received criticism, which led him to react harshly and cause more backlash. Asano later came to regret digitally processing his images because he felt he was ruining his pen art. Inio Asano made me not only read about but actually appreciate the internal lives of average grade school kids.

As they leave, Seki complains about Shimizu's chronic lying and says they should stop hanging out with him. Inio Asano ( 浅野いにお Asano Inio, born September 22, 1980 in Ishioka, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese manga author. The surreal visions and imagery usually never gets too out there so that it ends up interfering with the story or understanding what happens (sans Chapter 16), but it can be distracting and may not work for some. So since you're here reading this, and you're here on good reads, i assume we share this undescribable feeling that only books can give. It's a weird place between David Lynch and Haruki Murakami, where nothing's what it seems and horrible things are always about to happen, too trivial to be noticed, too sad not to leave their mark on the protagonist. The manga grew to thirteen volumes because Asano wanted to focus on the art and because many characters developed their own side stories. And then the main family is drawn as birds, apparently the author did that to make the readers think this was a "light and happy" story, but so far I've seen none of the "dark, depressing" topics this manga is apparently supposed to have.

Punpun and Aiko's relationship and injuries worsen more and more as they both display suicidal behavior. Nadam se da će me i budući brojevi držati u ovako jakoj neizvesnosti i želji da što pre vidim kuda vode dani odrastanja malog Punpuna.I often find that books I enjoy reading the least end up being the ones that stick with me the most and end up on my favorites list. If so, this manga is likely to hurt you in many subtle ways, from bittersweet melancholy to self-loathing - a very peculiar journey from childhood's big little traumas to adulthood's deepest sorrows whose effect can be so utterly estranging you'll probably get stuck in the emotional limbo that lies in between. Asano also utilized Punpun's simple look for symbolism, [5] like giving him bull horns to represent Altair, the cowherd star, to symbolize his love triangle as the Summer Triangle with Aiko as Vega and Sachi as Deneb. There are also the kids that Punpun hangs around with, each of them with their own defining backstories and issues, such as having an alcoholic dad, having to move away and one whose a bit overly imaginative and not all there. It's only a 7 volume long series so I'll finish it either way, but for the sake of my sanity I hope it gets better.
