Description

Our other cars do not have 12v sockets (too old) so would have to use battery terminals but this compressor does not come with crocodile clips. However, if you are on a tight budget and require a high-quality yet affordable tyre inflator, the AstroAl alternative is a great option to consider.

I also have the 18v Makita one, miles better than the other (quite expensive) 12v one I have, very good - inflates quickly and feels well built (also has the quick release style connector rather than a screw on one which is handy, especially if you're going a bunch of tyres). Details such as accessory adaptors (for cycle tyres, footballs etc) or LED light, ease of operation, quality of instructions, hose length and accessory sockets were also taken into account. The most common type of inflator is powered by a car’s 12V socket, but here we’re looking at battery-powered, cordless versions. Ring also bundles in three adaptors for ball valves, cycles and inflatable toys, along with four spare valve caps, a fuse and a case.

We have the ring 900, I too thought it would be better if it had 230v as well as 12v but TBH for how many times I use it it has not been a problem. Therefore, by having a portable inflator in your car, you can easily inflate the tyres at your convenience. Despite being cordless, Ring does supply you with a 3m 12V cable so that you’re not stuck with a flat tyre just because you forgot to recharge the battery. If, for instance, the tyre's valve is even a few inches above the ground, that short hose means you'll have to hold the unit for the duration. If you want a budget-friendly tyre inflator for your car, the FORTEM brand has the answer with their machine. It probably took longer to type in that mouthful of a name than for the unit to inflate our test tyre from flat. We like the four-scale digital display, the worklight that comes on with the trigger and, most usefully, the trigger lock that makes it more comfortable to use. With all new cars now fitted with tyre pressure monitors, having an inflator means that you can respond immediately to any warning that your tyres are running low.
