About this deal

As a dog owner (I have a 10-month-old Goldendoodle named Fritz, short for Fritzgerald, yes the extra 'r' is intentional) and lover, I enjoyed this book and found it somewhat heartwarming. As a book lover I recognize this book as cute but insubstantial and ultimately more cloying than inspirational. It's easy-to-read fluff that fulfilled its purpose as something to listen to on a road trip to Southern Utah and appease my wife. I anticipated how many or perhaps even all of these reactions would be impacting my heart almost simultaneously, like the dizzying crescendo of light and sound in the grand finale of a fireworks show. I knew we as readers would be leaping tall feelings in a single bound, wholeheartedly loving every minute of it, relishing every finely nuanced step of the journey through the familiar yet thrilling world this author so beautifully paints with his words.

And that’s when the thought hit me. What if this wonderful dog was Cammie? What if dogs live over and over again, and always remember us? Box Office: Can 'A Dog's Purpose' Still Win the Weekend After Canine Controversy?". Variety. 24 January 2017 . Retrieved January 24, 2017. Bailey is reborn as a female German Shepherd puppy, growing into a police dog named Ellie, in the late 1970s/early 1980s, while fully retaining memories of her past lives. Ellie is partnered with lonely officer Carlos Ruiz who has recently split up with his partner, of the Chicago Police Department, and works hard at "seeking" and "finding", now seeing the job as life's purpose. They form a close bond, ending after Ellie saves a girl, kidnapped by her mother's ex-boyfriend, from drowning and is then fatally shot by the kidnapper while protecting Carlos. Creo que W. Bruce Cameron hizo un trabajo fantástico al escribir esta novela. Por extraño y difícil que parezca, al leer este libro realmente creí que un perro estaba contándome la historia. Me encariñé con él como si fuera mi mejor amigo y sorpresivamente sentí emociones que no creía que experimentaría.But this life as a beloved family pet is not the end of Bailey's journey. Reborn as a puppy yet again, Bailey wonders, will he ever find his purpose? On the Set for 8/21/15: Eddie Redmayne Starts Fantastic Beasts, Russo Brothers Wrap Up Captain America: Civil War". SSN Insider. 2015-08-21. Archived from the original on 2015-08-22 . Retrieved 2015-10-25. There they were … everyone I’d ever loved in my life. … I was a good dog, and this was my reward. Now I would get to be with the people I loved. I turned, whimpering with joy, and swam toward those golden shores.” – Conclusion of “A Dog’s Journey,” the second of three novels in W. Bruce Cameron's series

If you saw A Dog’s Purpose two years ago, then you already have a pretty good idea of what you’re getting into with the movie’s new sequel: the corny dialogue, the contrived plot, the butt-clenching sense of dread …I have to say, as much as I love this author, as much as I love the movies that get made from his books (A Dog's Journey, which is A Dog's Purpose #2 is easily the best of the three movies) I had some trepidation. I thought to myself, will I be tired of hearing the ongoing adventures of Bailey, Bailey, Bailey which I thought had come to a happy ending at the end of book and movie #2 in the A Dog's Purpose series?

I must be a strange sight to behold when I read one of Bruce Cameron’s books — at some inevitable point, I’m sure to be rather ridiculously fanning my face with a stray postcard or travel brochure, making a frantic and futile attempt at preventing mascara from uncontrollably spilling out of my eyes and smearing down my cheeks, thus betraying an otherwise composed and well-polished poker face. (Guess that’s what I get for not using the waterproof kind.) This book was sad at times and happy at times. It also probably helped people to look at dogs, and other pets differently. There has always been a lot of talk about just what animals feel, are owners placing human emotions on them, do they have souls, do they think as we do. In this book, the dog definitely has a soul and has thoughts and emotions. Kit, Borys (September 16, 2016). "Bradley Cooper in Talks to Voice 'A Dog's Purpose' (Exclusive)". The Hollywood Reporter . Retrieved September 17, 2016. Josh Gad as the voice of Bailey, Ellie, Tino and Buddy, the reincarnations of "Boss Dog", the main protagonist. Well, it’s all about the purpose of a dog – again, but, this time, Cameron’s canine hero gets a specific request to find his new purpose. To do so, however, he must leave those “golden shores” where he had found an eternal opportunity to romp with all the humans he’s ever loved.

Because we are headed into a season where gift-giving is common, this would be a great way to take care of some of the people on your list. And, of course, take care of yourself—do you want a signed, personalized, first edition of A Dog’s Promise? Bryan Alexander (19 January 2017). " 'A Dog's Purpose' reels after outrage over disturbing set video". USA Today . Retrieved 19 January 2017.Basically any book that became a movie or television program. It turns out this is apparently the list of recommended reads I grab onto each year because I had read a bigly portion of the suggested titles (and had less than zero interest in some of the others). I had put A Dog’s Purpose on the wait list after seeing the preview when I took my kids to see Sing - a movie everyone else apparently loved but I thought was super . . . .
