Description

This plunger sports a peg hole at the top of the handle, allowing you to hang it from a hook if available. Although this feature was helpful initially, dripping water from the cup onto the floor after use was a detail we do not recommend. Now that you know more about plungers and which ones are best for specific clogs to let’s take a look at how to use a plunger. Using A Plunger In Your Toilet

Plunging a toilet is one of the most common plumbing tasks, but so often people don’t know where to start. To make this task easier, here are the steps you’ll need to take when plunging your toilet: 1. Wait 10 minutes before proceeding Though not sporting any dramatic features, this plunger was efficient for our residential toilets. With an 18-inch handle and a cup with a diameter of 5.5 inches, this plunger fits almost all our toilet bowls. The simple wooden handle allowed for a decent reach into the bowl and was comfortable for our testers to hold and grip.If you have a flat-surfaced fixture such as sink, floor drain or bathtub drain use flat-bottomed plunger types. However, the surface of your fixture is not flat, for instance, the curved bottom of your toilet, use plungers that have a flange. Comfort and Ease of Use After waiting at least ten minutes, turn off the water supply hose on your toilet (located on the wall behind the toilet). If the water in the toilet is still close to overflowing, remove some of the water using a small disposable plastic cup. The water level must be halfway up the brim so it can completely cover the cup of your rubber plunger. If the water level is too low, add more water to fill the toilet bowl approximately halfway; having the right amount of water can make plunging more effective. Use the right plunger for the right job. A toilet/flange plumber shouldn’t go in your kitchen sink. And a sink/cup plunger shouldn’t go in your toilet. It’s unhealthy.

We were impressed with how easy it was to use the Liquid-Plumr Mini Sink and Drain Plunger. Simply place the plunger over the drain, push down to release the air, pull up to fill the cup with water, and plunge in an up and down motion until the clog is cleared. The compact size and non-slip grip handle made it easy to use, and the heavy-duty rubber cup provided highly effective results. Plunging is an effective way to unclog a clogged toilet or drain, but it can also lead to damage of your pipes if done incorrectly or with too much force. The most common type of damage that could occur when using a plunger is to the drain line itself, which could cause leaks or even break down the connection between the two pieces.

Other variations of this model are available, such as the Large Sink and Drain Plunger (green and blue), Small Sink and Drain Plunger (blue), Grey Toilet Plunger, and the longer Toilet Plunger (green and blue). Out of all the models, only Luigi’s Toilet Plunger is designed exclusively for US toilet usage. All models are made out of PVC and are heavy duty. To use this type of plunger, all you need is to select the appropriate suction cup, fill the plunger with pressurized air, place the suction cup on the clogged fixture and either pull the trigger or press the button to hit the clog. While Hawley called his device a “vent clearer,” his original instructions still apply 150 years later. I updated some of the terminology to give us modern instructions for clearing a clogged sink drain: Understanding a plunger and how, where, and when to use it will go a long way to reducing any water damage from overflowing toilets and drains. Although now you probably want to plunge away to your heart’s desire, don’t overdue it. Call 1-Tom-Plumber for Help Plunging a toilet is similar but requires you to wait 10 minutes beforehand before turning off the water and removing some of the bowl’s water if half full or more. Lastly, for best results use a flange plunger on a toilet bowl. With these steps in mind, even those less experienced with plumbing tasks can easily unclog any drain or toilet! Related Topics
