Description

This is a moving and funny debut novel set in a quirky coastal community you will be desperate to visit after reading. I wish it didn't come with so much cursive, but considering the time periods involved, it's understandable.

Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. The only reason I couldn’t give this one five stars (it has to be simply immaculate for me for five stars), is that I struggled to read the handwritten sections of the book. It encapsulates each ghosts personality perfectly, you can just imagine hearing these inserts in their voices. The additional archives from the TV show, this book contains all of the letters, flyers and important documents gathered by Alison, to document her ghost friends’ lives (and deaths)!

It is the perfect Christmas gift and I'm looking forward to seeing the fans dressed up in their favourite Ghosts costumes for the events. I particularly liked the explanation of the ghost rules at the beginning and the 10 questions for each of the ghosts. Written by the show's creators, this eclectic archive is a unique chance to discover more about the beloved ghosts of Button House. Gathered together in this volume is a treasure trove of unearthed cuttings, original records and rare artefacts that explore the unseen lives of those who died at Button House: from Thomas's love letters to Pat's ‘Summer Camp Rap’, and from Julian's campaign promises to Lady Button's Rules of Etiquette.

Ghosts: The Button House Archives will be published on 26th October 2023, with promotional and signing events nationwide in the run-up to Christmas. The ghosts of Button House may have been dead a long time - some of them a very long time - but they have all left their mark on the world (even if, in Robin’s case, that mark is just a handprint on the wall of a cave). Although only a sampler, this book embodies each of the characters perfectly and in such creative ways too. All of the ghosts have such huge personalities and it was great to see snippets of them on the pages. If you are in Australia or New Zealand (DVD Region 4), note that almost all DVDs distributed in the UK by the BBC and 2entertain are encoded for both Region 2 and Region 4.

Even a double page of the Radio Times schedule with each ghost circling what programmes they will watch really sums them up.

Additionally, the plan is for the stars to sign books "at events around the country in the run-up to Christmas". Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. But as the show ends, publisher Bloomsbury will be publishing a book written by the same gang, Ghosts: The Button House Archives. I wasn’t actually reading the book at that point, I was just spending a while staring and trying to decipher the handwriting… was just a pain. One for the fans perhaps, but there are plenty of us and with the last series coming up, I'll take everything I can get! Written by the show’s creators – Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond – this eclectic archive is a unique chance to discover more about the beloved ghosts of Button House. The ghosts of Button House may have been dead a long time - some of them a very long time - but they have all left their mark on the world (even if, in Robin's case, that mark is just a handprint on the wall of a cave). I received a sampler of the Ghosts Archives and I’ll start by saying, if you’re a fan of the show (I’m going to assume that you are because EVERYONE should be. Gathered together in this volume is a treasure trove of unearthed cuttings, original records and rare artefacts that explore the unseen lives of those who died at Button House: from Thomas's love letters to Pat's 'Summer Camp Rap', and from Julian's campaign promises to Lady Button's Rules of Etiquette.

As might be expected of the clever team that being us this programme there is much to amuse the reader in this book. There are back stories for the different characters, declarations of love, historical insights into life in the past, and excellent pictures of our favourite ghosts. But let's be real, it's a companion to the excellent TV show Ghosts which I adore so it was perfection.

If you're looking for something specific, or a customised bundle of books try our book fairy service. A very big thank you to Bloomsbury and NetGalley for the chance to have this sneak peek into something that Ghosts fans are going to adore. It’s a great addition to the show and we get further insights into all the characters we’ve come to know and love.
