Description

Upon reaching the injector, this highly pressurized fuel pushes the inlet or main spring into the injector due to its high pressure. As this fuel enters the fuel injector, it starts pushing the plunger spring, which in turn pushes the plunger outwards, opening the nozzle and resulting in fuel spraying. When the fuel pump driver module is faulty, you may observe that your vehicle’s engine is consuming more fuel than usual. When a code P062B is stored, it means that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an internal performance error with the fuel injection control system. Other controllers may also detect an internal PCM performance error (in the fuel injection control system) and cause a P062B to be stored.

Open coils produce low current which sets the injector circuit low codes (ie. P0261, P0264, … , P0282).

Due to insufficient oil changes, the fuel pump will need to be repaired after being worn down by friction.

In 1920, Bosch created the first diesel fuel injector in response to rising fuel demand and prices. Introducing fuel injection to vehicles improved acceleration and fuel efficiency, making engines more powerful and fuel efficient. When it comes to keeping fuel pressure and delivery to the engine consistent, it’s up to the fuel pump driver module to manage the electrical power supply to the fuel pump. Engine stalling: If your engine is stalling, it could be a sign that the fuel pump is not delivering enough fuel to the engine.

The FICM will cycle through the injector outputs when the key is placed in the ON position. This is called pre-cycle and the time of pre-cycle varies with engine temperature. The pre-cycle is done as a self test of the injector circuits. The Duramax FICM (Fuel Injection Control Module) controls how the fuel injectors function by sending electrical impulses to open or close the valve. It sends 48 volts to the injector coil, allowing the valve to open and release fuel into cylinders. Duramax FICM Problems If you have a bad FICM but your engine starts, you may notice that the engine doesn’t run smoothly. Sometimes, the engine will start after a few attempts and run rough throughout the drive. When this happens, your FICM power supply is faulty and doesn’t supply the needed power. In the early 1970s, the Japanese electronics industry began producing integrated circuits and microcontrollers used for controlling engines. [6] The Ford EEC (Electronic Engine Control) system, which utilized the Toshiba TLCS-12 microprocessor, went into mass production in 1975. ECU sends a signal to the injector with the help of an electronic connection. These electronic signals from the ECU actuate the electromagnets inside the fuel injectors, this pushes the plunger outwards, which opens the nozzle, and finally, the fuel is sprayed. This issue can be caused by clogged vehicle components, but the most common cause is fuel pump problems. As the name implies, these types of fuel injectors mechanically control the speed, amount, timing, and pressure of fuel with the help of a spring and plunger. The mechanically controlled fuel injector takes input from the cam and fuel pump system or fuel distributor (in the modern type). #4 Electronically Controlled Fuel Injectors In automotive engines, fuel is introduced through injectors into the combustion chamber; this is called fuel injection. Fuel injectors are mechanical devices used to inject/spray fuel into engines to produce the correct air-fuel mixture, leading to efficient combustion. In many cases, people forget to get their oil changed. Your fuel pump will deteriorate if you don’t change the oil often enough.
