About this deal

As it dries, it goes warmer and a hint soapy, and the geranium comes forward, mixed with old-style cloves. For Coco Noir, I thought of Coco and of Coco Mademoiselle too, because it’s also part of the history.

This captivating fragrance opens with a vibrant burst of sophisticated grapefruit, bergamot, and Venezuelan tonka beans. This isn’t a shy one, with plenty of character and attitude, the kind of scent I imagine a woman like Miranda Priestly would wear to meetings. The drydown is dominated by the amber-vanilla accord, sweet yet light - not quite thin, but not rich either. This fact is undeniable and accomplished, so from it, one should expect a stubborn behavior and a stubborn, brightly expressed character, demanding to be matched and kept high. This is reminiscent of Mlle in the top notes but becomes softer and woodier - it is a mellower and more sophisticated scent.

The slightly spicy geranium is lovely, too, especially as it combines with the sandalwood and leather notes in the drydown. There was something very melancholy and just closed off about this one despite the yummy and elegant notes. It’s a nice warm scent suitable for colder weather but the patchouli note is just too strong for me. I was always hesitant to wear anything from this house bc I assumed all the scents were old fashioned and catered to older women.

I adore Chanel fragrances, Coco Mademoiselle Intense being my favorite because it holds sentimental meaning to me (wedding scent), but Coco Noir is easily the 2nd runner up. That black, baroque, smoky scent would pop in my thought several times a year and I always told myself I would get some, but I just never got around to it. My experience with my ex boyfriend kind of tainted this perfume for me but didn’t take away my love for it, I look at it now the way I looked at him…as beautiful, and enticing, but unattainable and kind of cold but still warm, like a campfire inside an igloo. For as long as I can remember, I have bought perfume with my pocket money and now-a-days, I love nothing more than finding a new perfume that I adore. There's nothing unpleasant about this fragrance, it is actually easier on my nose compared to Coco, it's just much lighter and has less presence.

The bergamot is heavy and in your face, but give it 5 minutes and it settles so beautifully on the skin and projects like a beast, the patchouli and sandalwood coming out just a few hours after during the drydown. He says its versatile in a way that it smells like a little bit of everything, and I couldn't agree more. This fragrance is by far the best to celebrate the strength of womanhood, her character and all that she brings to your life! There isn't much projection after the first few minutes, and after about an hour it's a skin scent for the remainder of its life. The top notes of Coco Noir include grapefruit, tart bergamot, and orange, leading to heart notes of rose, geranium, intoxicating patchouli, and enchanting jasmine. The patchouli does become more prominent in the very final phases of the scent so if you’re very sensitive to patchouli try a sample and let it fully dry down before making the decision, I’m usually turned off by patchouli but in this it doesn’t bother me at all.
