I would highly recommend this pack and the colors offered by direct action are really nice, I purchased Urban Grey. You can detach the belt from the pack, and it comes with a set of suspenders you can attach to the belt. If the shoulders had the thin soft rubber padding like the belt and back panel this bag would be insane on comfort level! Even though we hold patents for our innovations, we face stiff challenges from cheap quality chinese imports which copy our products.

If you have doubts about 500d Cordura, know that this one is a laminate which makes it even more durable. I have seen complaints about not beeing able to fully unzip the top of the pack without releasing the left and right tension straps which hold the smaller bag in place – this is true to a degree but from my experience I have never needed to release them to get anything in or out. The detachable front pocket is the perfect size to strap to a raft, especially with the ability to attach a first aid pouch to the outside. I look forward to the availability of various pouches for this system plus perhaps open up a retail location in Canada. I carried the Dragon Egg pack for a couple of years, and by far it is my favorite pack, and I've owned just about every "tactical" backpack on the high end market.

I have rigged this for wildlife photography and find it offers everything I need to carry all my lenses and filters. Have had this pack for a few long and dirty years now, I can’t remember not using it- its been used every time i’ve left home, from work to hiking to shooting to urbex, has been tossed and dragged and swung around, rolled down rocky crags and icy hills, snagged on barbed wire, slept on, beat on as an ad hoc punching bag, rained and/or snowed on almost weekly, sprinkled with hot spent brass when used as casual shooting rest, almost caught on fire more than once, savaged by the family dog. The detachable waist belt is what i use to hike lightweight as this pact comes with standard suspenders. I have been toying with a way to use the included shoulder straps but haven't gotten anywhere with that yet.
