Description

In the manga Alice in the Country of Hearts the March Hare is called Elliot March and is Blood Dupre's (the Hatter's) right-hand man. He isn't specifically crazy or mad, but has a quite violent attitude, almost killing Alice with his long-barrelled gun before being stopped by Blood. More recently this behaviour has been questioned and it is now thought that hares behave oddly - boxing, jumping etc. - throughout their breeding season, which extends over several months.

The March Hare will be much the most interesting, and perhaps as this is May it won't be raving mad – at least not so mad as it was in March." There are three types of hare in the UK: the brown hare, the mountain hare and the Irish hare. The brown hare is the most common and you're most likely to see these on arable farmland and large, flat expanses of grassland. The open plains of Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire are a stronghold for brown hares, as are the Marlborough Downs in Wiltshire. In 2013, as part of the Disney Dreamers Everywhere! event, the March Hare returned as a meet-and-greet character in the park. He returned in 2016, where he joined rabbit characters from other Disney animated projects in the resort's Easter festivities. Although the phrase in general has been in continuous use since the 16th century, [3] it was popularised in more recent times by Lewis Carroll in his 1865 children's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, in which the March Hare is a character. We’re all familiar with the Easter Bunny who comes along on Easter Sunday and hides chocolate eggs in the gardens of children, but what you might not know is that it has its roots in the Easter Hare… The March Hare doesn't appear in the show. However, he appeared like an antagonist, linked with Jefferson's past into the comic Out of the Past.

It is also a great place to spot the Irish hare, which has shorter ears and its tail is all white, not just the under-side as with the brown hare.
