About this deal

Instead of scrolling through your social media news feed, this is a much better way to spend your spare time in my opinion. As I'm trying to declutter and Marie Kondo my way through our house, I wanted a little extra motivation and checked out this book.

I am mid-stream in my down-sizing, was never a hoarder, but even people with neat and tidy homes have too much stuff. Peter's vulnerability in sharing his own stories is lovely in another wonderful guide to decluttering! In this book, they’re fleshed out so much more and their relationship with their daughters feels solid and real, making it even sadder once their ship is lost at sea (I hoped it wouldn’t happen, even though I knew it had to, that’s how invested I was in them). This book gives you the tools to get through this process efficiently and as painlessly as possible. Our foster parents, Guy and Ruby Smith, had no experience of child-raising and seemed to be as taken aback as we were by the gulf between our cultures. What made this a great read was how much more depth was given to all of the characters, regardless of whether they were major or secondary. It doesn’t help that downsizing often coincides with momentous changes in our lives that only add to the stress and emotional difficulty of going through our old things. Various materials, bought at different times, on trips when I had forgotten to pack them or we got a sudden cold snap.

Earlier, when we were downsizing my parents' home, one of the few things I kept was a green glass pie plate she used for making desserts when we were children. But I can promise you that if you do it correctly, the process won't live up to the disruptive, divisive, and stressful reputation it's gotten. The royal couple originally made very little impact with the Queen only having a single line of dialogue and she wasn’t even given a name! The account of some of the awful things they and their son went through, was very tough to read at times but it felt that this was ultimately a story of hope. The section on handling other's stuff is something I should go back and re-read/listen to again when the time comes. This is not a throw-it-all-out and become a Zen minimalist plan; it's more of a thoughtful stuff-reduction plan. Seine Betreuung wird zu einer Herkules-Aufgabe und bald nicht mehr stemmbar für das Ehepaar Shirley. Narrator Gary Furlong's gentle Irish accent guides listeners through the process of downsizing their possessions—whether it’s due to moving, a desired change in lifestyle, or having to clear out another person's belongings when that person is unable to do so.

Her closing lines will stay with me and act as a useful approach to life, especially in such uncertain times. The intangible things Mum left behind--her laugh, her wicked sense of humor, and her wise advice--will live on. We may be able to extend this time under special circumstances, but please make contact as soon as you notice any problems so we can remedy the situation for you.Whether the challenges are being a child refugee, having an autistic child or creating a fortune (then giving it all away) by founding a tech company at a time when women were supposed to be home baking bread, Dame Stephanie Shirley's cinematic memoir inspires us all to keep reaching. It was a huge thing for my mom to throw out a "treasure" that she had kept for 60 years that held a deeply traumatic memory. In addition, her story also tells of her struggles raising a severely autistic son in an age when this condition was not well known. I think this book is full of good advice and includes who in the family deserves to have the final say about parental items.

The early days of Stephanie starting her 'all female' computing business from home were interesting and inspiring. Read this book sooner rather than later while you have more of your life to do amazing things and make a positive difference to the lives of thousands of others as she has! Your physical possessions--and the emotional weight they carry--can become so heavy that your wheels sink under the load.Despite on paper her life looks like an amazing success story, (and it is) she had to fight hard every step of the way, and came close to disaster several times. It was interesting with many good tips on dealing with the clutter, deciding what to keep, and how to get rid of the rest.
