About this deal

It leads to a quite disjointed feel, the women are cut-out stereotypes of the ‘ tart with a heart’, ‘brazen hussie’‘curtain twitcher’variety, and there were several references to domestic violence which were framed as though it was ‘a woman’s lot’ which I took exception to. Her life is as interesting as the fiction that she writes, and perhaps even stranger. Lesley Pearse has had a very dramatic and eventful life. Her mother died when she was just three years old under circumstances that were tragic. Their father had been at work at sea and a neighbor spied Lesley and her brother outside without coats and that led to finding out that their mother had died. But, after one drunken rage too many, she has the courage to leave him. Eve is warned that it's a difficult path, yet she needs to give her children hope for the future.

What then followed was not what I expected at all. I ended up getting more enjoyment from the reader’s comments than the actual book. The police are inept but it's ok, they'll try their hand at solving murder, arson, gun running, the lot. Obv none of it well, but they have a THIN lady cop to act as a girlfriend, so it's all good... A fast-paced, psychological drama . . . with an enthralling plot, a cast of fascinating characters, and Pearse's addictive storytelling, Suspects will grip from start to finish The Best Life Project Over the pas few years I have been grateful to have been offered the opportunity to read Lesley Pearse’s thrillers, and I have enjoyed every one of them. Her new offering is Suspects, set in a a leafy susburb of Cheltenham, Willow Close. Nina and Conrad have been looking for their perfect new home for a while, and find it in Willow Close with its perfect front gardens, tranquil setting and perfect houses with gleaming windows. But on the day they move in the body of a young girl from Willow Close is found murdered in the woods. As the police investigation starts, and residents questioned, Nina and George begin to wonder if Willow Close is less Stepford Wives and more Nightmare on Elm Street.

When 13 year old Chloe is murdered, the residents of her street must try to hide their own secrets as the police try to solve the crime. New home owners, Nina and Conrad are soon wondering what kind of street they’ve moved into! Eve should never have married Don Hathaway. Yes, he gave her two beautiful children - Olly and Tabitha - but he is a bully. Worse than that, he hurts her.On the day Nina and Conrad Best move into their new home in picture-perfect Willow Close, a body is discovered. I don't know who wrote this , or even when, but it certainly doesn't read like a Lesley Pearse book!

In this exciting and historical city, Belle gradually begins to come into her own. Now of age, she gradually learns how to operate skill fully within her life as a courtesan and even adapts to enjoy it. However, she is always thinking of the home she left behind. Even though she is the golden girl for right now of the prostitution world in this bustling southern city, she knows that she only has so long to dominate this cage before it turns into a prison once more that holds her forever.I guessed the perpetrator’s identity almost immediately due to the nature of the murder and something off about their behaviour, but that was in no way a dealbreaker because the novel is more about the residents and their secrets. Who knew there could be so much eye popping crime in a quiet suburb? No, it’s not very plausible but it’s engrossing to read. Pretty much they all have dodgy stuff going on. Many unhappy marriages (which seems to be because they all married after barely knowing each other).

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from Pigeonhole. I write this with my fat fingers which the author seems to find repellent so please do bear with me while I stuff some bonbons in my mouth and cry into my fat girl ice cream.

The story is about the residents of Willow Close. Most of them have lived there a while, but it’s Nina and Conrad’s first day on the street when the body of 13-year-old aspiring singer/actress Chloe Church is found in bushes in an area of common land behind the street.
