About this deal

Sadly that was not the problem. The problem was a mix of very poor research and command of subject matter and also some frankly ludicrous things happening. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, it was a great psychological thriller with a few drops of horror added in just the right places. I loved the well-developed, relatable characters, their relationships & the brilliant explorations of how childhood trauma, grief and guilt can shape an individual. I am super excited to see what novels Jessica Huntly releases in the future as this was an absolutely stunning debut. I think anyone who is interested in the elements I have mentioned above will love this book. What goes against my realm of understanding is the way jacob’s parents behave in the entire story. They can see what their son is turning into, yet, other than think and pray about it, they seem to turn a blind eye. In fact most of the times i felt that they were enabling him, in their fear of losing their son. This part of the story just didn’t gel with me. Somehow I could not connect with any of the characters, each one is passive in their own way esp the mother. she tested my patience in a major way.

So excited this deal announcement is finally live! I have 30,000 words written on this project so far. Let me just say that I cannot wait for you all to meet the real Chrysantha. The Darkness Within Ourselves follows a group of young teenagers who are the best of friends and have their whole lives ahead of them. Until one day they are playing a game of dares that goes horribly wrong and one of the boys ends up dead. Terrified of facing up to what has happened the group decides to bury their friend and cover up what really happened. After an investigation that uncovered zero clues the town ends up believing that the boy has run away. But that wasn't the end of it all. The remaining friends all drift apart over the next few years and each one ends up experiencing horrendous psychological problems and have some sort of ominous presence in their lives affecting them. 20 years later then find themselves having to face up to what has happened and the problems they have been having.I can't say It ruined an otherwise great book because I'd be lying. Without spoilers, the author suggests that CM can cause a recipient to develop their donors finger prints. Such total bunkum is totally unnecessary when there are many cases where a recipients blood type has changed and even alleged cases where a recipients DNA has changed post transplant. This is explainable if you consider donor cells creating blood cells and bone marrow but finger prints? Skin whorls that have existed since before birth?? How on Earth can anyone try and explain that out. Fast forward 20 years and Kieran’s watch is found by some local children. Amber, Tyler, Jordan and Brooke have been suffering with the darkness within in them for the past 2 decades and now must face up to it, reunite, learn some truths and try to stop the thing that’s been haunting them all for years. But what will happen when the truth is revealed? (You’ll have to read to find out!)

Then a terrible thing happens and one of the children dies. Believing they will go to jail, the remaining four make a promise that they will never tell anyone what happened and they swear on a blood oath to keep the secret forever. The story follows four friends torn apart by a tragic incident, as a result of which each of them suffers from intense traumatic and psychological conditions which makes them a different version of themselves. After a sudden evidence being found twenty years later, the case is re-opened and Amber and her friends must prepare for the worst. I love that the author Jessica Huntley is Amber. The introduction to the characters is awesome. I adore that during a read. The chapters are short and the layout on a kindle is fab making it a really easy read. Jacob’s girlfriend, Rosie, is convinced the man she loves is suffering from stress. But when his moods turn on her, she begins to doubt herself – and she can only hide the bruises for so long.
