About this deal

Finding the right car that can tow up to 3500kg can be very difficult, and there's really no good way to try before you buy. Fortunately, there are plenty of test-drive reports out there to help you make your mind. But before you start looking, it's important to see what the different options are as this will help you narrow down your search. The FUSO Canter 3.5 t is ideally suited for use in the city and urban environments. Its compact dimensions and the design as a front steer without a nose make it extremely agile, manoeuvrable and shunting-friendly.

When measuring the total weight of the caravan, you will need to include the towing car’s occupants and any luggage in the car or caravan. If you think that you are particularly close to your car’s maximum towing capacity, it could be a wise move to get a more accurate figure using a dedicated measurement tool. Having established that it’s utes and four-wheel drives that are your best bet of a realistic 3500kg towing performance, what cars can tow 3500kg that we would recommend? The catch is that some dual-cab utes (for example) might have a GCM of 5800kg and a towing limit of 3500kg, but once you hook that full amount to the tow-bar of the 2000kg ute, you discover that you have only 300kg of weight left for you, your passengers and your luggage. Exceeding the GCM is just as dangerous and illegal as exceeding the towing limit. The four key numbers which need to be crunched to make or break a 3500kg towing claim are a tow vehicle's kerb weight (no passengers or gear but fully fuelled and ready to roll), its GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass or how much it can weigh when fully loaded), its payload (the difference between kerb weight and GVM) and its GCM (Gross Combination Mass or how much it can legally carry and tow at the same time).

Tow bar: Assuming the vehicle you’re towing with was manufactured and fitted with a tow bar post-1998, then the tow bar will need to have Type Approval and meet EU regulations. This will be clearly marked on the tow bar, either with a label or a plate with an approval number. Improvements to the ride, comfort and handling have been made by redesigning the suspension—a tune engineered for Australian customers looking to tow. An improved independent front suspension (IFS) design allows for improved ride and handling, cornering stability and performance. A combination of increased front spring rate and a heavily redesigned front anti-roll bar further aids in optimising roll centre geometry and reducing body roll, while enhancing chassis composure, stability and front axle load capacity, without compromising ride or handling. Overall, the improved IFS design ensures the All-New Isuzu MU-X remains stable, predictable and comfortable when on-road, while maximising axle droop, flexibility and traction when off-road. Knowing your car’s towing limit is important because it means you can stay on the right side of the law when towing a load. Attempting to tow more than the manufacturer’s limit means you are technically unroadworthy. Be aware, be vigilant, fit extender mirrors if you need to (they help you see round the trailer you're towing) and enjoy the convenience of towing in your van. FAQs What's The Most A Van Can Tow? The MAM you can tow if you passed your driving test after 1 January 1997 is significantly reduced, dropping to 3.5 tonnes. However, if the towing vehicle has a weight of 3.5 tonnes the MAM limit is increased to 4.25 tonnes, effectively meaning that you could tow a three-quarter tonne trailer with a 3.5-tonne vehicle. Towing rule changes from 16 December 2021

Featuring the latest in connectivity and infotainment technology, at the heart of the interior is a new 9-inch high-definition infotainment system (LS-U and LS-T), with LS-M variants sporting a 7-inch screen. Smartphone mirroring is standard across all models, with Android Auto™ and wireless Apple CarPlay® conveniently ensuring that Android devices and iPhones® respectively remain connected. In the LS-U and LS-T, planning the route ahead is also simple and intuitive with in-built Satellite-Navigation. Unladen weight: the weight of a vehicle that isn’t carrying any passengers or luggage. Other variables such as fuel are also not taken into account.Whatever you are towing must never exceed the trailer’s MAM or the car’s maximum towing capacity. These must be treated as absolute limits and the sensible option is to keep well below them to be safe. Towing licence rules: what can you legally tow in the UK? Land Rover's towing figures, like Holden's, are far from straightforward in the way they are presented in the company's specs sheet. They show neither kerb weight nor tare weight but another variation, which includes a notional 75kg driver and 90 per cent fuel. As a result, we only concentrated on one model to provide a general guide to the Disco range. The simplest formula to follow when working out your car’s maximum towing capacity is to subtract the car’s MAM from the gross train weight. Your car’s towing capacity will be total remaining once the car’s weight has been removed from the gross train weight, the maximum weight of the trailer itself.
