About this deal

It's definitely an upgrade, although you feel like it's still constrained somehow, as the 12.9-inch model is just so much more expansive. Game availability for the 200+ titles across devices varies based on hardware and software compatibility. Some content may not be available in all areas. Available in English (Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, U.S.) on iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later), iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later), iPad Air (3rd generation and later), iPad mini (5th generation and later), and iPad (8th generation and later). It doubles the performance of the entry-level iPad 9.7 (2018), according to our tests, offering another perk for anyone seeking serious productivity and looking for a long-term investment. It’s equipped with Apple’s custom A12 Bionic chipset, the same powerful System-on-a-Chip inside the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. To find out, we're going to try and do what we didn't manage with the first iPad Pro, and write this entire review on the new iPad Pro 10.5 – including photo processing and editing, and with our hands-on pictures of the tablet shot on the iPhone 7 Plus, which has a comparable sensor to the new iPad Pro – and see how easy it is to achieve.

Available on iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation and later), iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation and later), iPad (10th generation), iPad Air (4th generation and later), or iPad mini (6th generation) when using the front camera. Even though the iPad Pro came out in June 2017, we've yet to see the price drop much. We expect it to drop once we hear all about the new iPad Pro (2018) that we expect to see unveiled on October 30.Video mirroring and video out support: Up to 1080p through Lightning Digital AV Adapter and Lightning to VGA Adapter (adapters sold separately) The Apple iPad Pro 10.5 willfeature iOS 10 when it first launches, though it will get an update to iOS 11 when the new software build arrives this Autumn. It's expected to be releasedalongside the new iPhones in September. FaceTime calling requires a FaceTime-enabled device for the caller and recipient and a Wi-Fi connection. Availability over a cellular network depends on carrier policies; data charges may apply. This is the cheapest iPad with Apple’s Smart Connector, which magnetically fastens the fabric tri-fold keyboard cover to the bottom (in landscape) of the tablet. No need to fumble around with those often unreliable third-party Bluetooth keyboards.

However, there is more screen real estate to play with, while Apple has maintained sharpness levels by putting 1668 x 2224 pixels onto the display to balance out by the larger size, which is a good move. You'll spend a lot on this device, but at least you'll get something that seems to justify the cost in terms of build quality. Screen It’s Apple’s thinnest non-Pro iPad at 6.1mm (the Pro is 5.9mm and the iPad 9.7 is 7.5mm), and also weighs just 1lb (456g). Its ‘Air’ moniker actually means something – only iPad mini (2019) is lighter at 0.66lbs (300.5g) among iPads currently on sale. Overall, the screen quality is stunning in so many ways – but there's still the question of whether it's actually overkill. iPads have traditionally run on the same iOS as iPhones, but after we tested the iPad Apple released its own offshoot operating system, called iPadOS. We haven't tested iPadOS on this iPad, but we have used it on other tablets, where it works a treat. We say in theory as this has been impossible to test, as trying to stream content from YouTube hasn't given the full HDR effect, and HDR-capable video files won't copy across to the iPad. The TrueTone display is a hard one to assess – it mimics the lighting conditions around you by measuring the color of what's doing the illuminating, so the screen will look different when using it by lamplight and outdoors. The display has rounded corners. When measured diagonally as a rectangle, the iPad Air screen is 10.86 inches. Actual viewable area is less. It feels redundant to talk about the build quality of this tablet, because the higher premium placed on Apple products does guarantee something that's made to last and feel good in the hand.

You’re forced to use low-pile keys, which isn't a problem if you’ve adjusted to recent MacBooks or Mac Magic Keyboards. What’s different is that this keyboard has a one-piece custom-woven fabric design with 64 keys etched out using lasers. Laser-etched fabric keys sound cool, and they have real-world benefits: they’re water- and stain-resistant, and impervious to debris. I carelessly ate a croissant over the iPad Air – for testing purposes – and simply wiped away the many pieces that didn’t make it into my mouth. Contrast that with various MacBooks I’ve taken to the Apple Store for repair when a single crumb gets trapped underneath the delicate butterfly keyboard.Available for homes using the new Home architecture and a HomePod or Apple TV running as a home hub.

If you're an Apple fan and just crave the best of what's on offer, then this tablet will impress without a doubt. USB-C to Apple Pencil Adapter required to work with iPad (10thgeneration). Subject to availability. Available on iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd generation and later), iPad Pro 10.5-inch, iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later), iPad Air (3rd generation and later), iPad (6th generation and later), iPad mini (5th generation and later) and AirPods (2nd and 3rd generation), AirPods Pro (1st and 2nd generation), and AirPods Max, with the latest firmware. Available on iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd generation and later), iPad Pro 10.5-inch, iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later), iPad Air (3rd generation and later), iPad (6th generation and later), iPad mini (5th generation and later) and AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Pro (1st and 2nd generation), or AirPods Max with the latest firmware. Available on Apple Watch SE (2nd generation), Apple Watch Series 6 and later, and Apple Watch Ultra. The new model measures 250.6 x 174.1 x 6.1mm and it weighs 469g or 477g, depending on whether you opt for the Wi-Fi only model, or the Wi-Fi and LTEoption. The same premium, slim metal build is present with the Apple logo on the rear, slightly raised rear camera lens in the top left-hand corner and the Touch ID home button beneath the display on the front. The display is capable of going even brighter than on previous tablets, heading up to 600 nits, which means it's capable of showing HDR movies in all their glory. That's a great thing in theory, as the visual quality of some programming on the iPad will look amazing. Available in Arabic, Dutch, English, French, German, Hebrew, Korean, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish, and Thai. English, French, and Spanish on iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation and later), iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation and later), iPad (10th generation), iPad Air (4th generation and later), and iPad mini (6th generation).
