About this deal

How is it constructed? The action flashes between events of the past, when Gentleman Bastards were children and current timeline. Usually that turns into a mess with one of the aspects a boring drudgery, a torturous parts you suffer only to get to the ‘good stuff’. You know what I’m talking about, right? Well, that is not the case here. I still can’t decide which story (the past or the present) I enjoyed more. Both were thoroughly entertaining, which is uncommon. (Yes, despite all my problems with it, I did have fun. At least until I got fed up with both storylines.) On top of that, a lot of people want nothing more than for you to write your first book over again… because that's what they know and love. But you *can't* do that, because you only get one beginning. I see.” Jean slowly walked over to the linen table, took up a clay cup, and filled it with water from the jug. “Do you have anything with you that can bring about a strong sleep? In case his pain should worsen?”

Nonsense. You’ll feel right at home. What is government but theft by consent? You’ll be moving in a society of kindred spirits.” No!” Jean yelled, ceasing his fight. Four men seized him and dragged him into the inner room, where he counted at least five more visible opponents. One of them grabbed a towel from the linens table and held it up to his bleeding nose. Jean, listen. I took some of the money when we got here on the boat... . I hid it. Loosened a floorboard under the bed.” So apparently the Nameless Thirteenth enjoys pissing on mortals and laughing at their prayers. THIS is what I’ve been waiting years for? THIS didn’t even have the same feel as the first two books in the beloved Gentlemen Bastards series. It felt more like a PG-13 version of an R rated movie … and only because of the swearing … which was great, but not enough to carry the story along.

Goodreads Summary:

obstinate, uh, something... something... biting and witty and thoroughly convincing! Hey, if you leave now, you’ll miss me being thoroughly convincing! Damn it.” There are four of us,” said the woman. “In an ideal world, the wisest and most powerful of the fifth--circles. If nothing else, we do get to live in the biggest houses.” I do think the author’s writing has improved in this novel. He still uses the same eloquent descriptions, but the superfluous and convoluted information about the scenery are kept to a minimum. In the previous book it felt he’d spent paragraphs describing inanimate objects and irrelevant places; I was glad to see a more concise approach to his writing. I think he has got the balance just right in this novel and I can easily see this developing into a really strong series. I can’t wait to see where the author takes this in the future. COVER REVEAL!!! And it was on March 4th! A WHOLE week ago. Some fan I am .....!!! How could I've missed this? And how could you, guys?!!! Yes, you(you know who you are)! Credits go to Vippi because I did see the news in her feed! Thanks, ragazza! There’s only one use for a knife like this,” whispered Jean. “You see it? You try to call out or pull away, and you’ll be wearing your belly--fat for an apron. Open the gate.”

The Falconer was arrogant, vicious, misguided. He was acting in obedience to a contract, which we consider a sacred obligation, but I won’t deny that he amplified the brutality of the affair beyond what was called for.” The most enthralling part of the book for me will have to be the questions “How the hell will they get out of this situation?”& “How will they execute their schemes?” that were present through the entire plot line. It’s ingenious how Scott Lynch implemented the lies, heist, all the moving parts and schemes after schemes filled with humorous, crude yet eloquent dialogues which I can’t ever seem to get enough of. His real problem is self--inflicted. You see, we can deaden our minds to any suffering of the flesh. But that art requires caution. It’s extremely dangerous to use it in haste.” Weak sunlight against his eyelids drew him out of sleep. The brightness intruded, grew, made him blink groggily. A window was open, letting in mild afternoon air and a freshwater smell. Not Camorr. Sound of waves lapping against a sand beach. Not Camorr The woman’s flesh was warm and solid beneath Jean’s arm one moment, and in the next his blade bit empty air.The Republic of Thieves doesn’t take you along the same climactic journey of highs and lows that a Brandon Sanderson book might, a fact for which I am immensely grateful. Rather, instead of relying upon the constant rise and fall of expectation and tension, Lynch holds the reader’s attention just as surely with the consistent intensity of character-driven story, intermixed with the political necessity of rigging the Karthain five-year election. Is that meant to be some poor cousin to a threat? A reminder that you just happened to be present when the Falconer’s terrible judgment finally got the best of him?” He said that life boils down to standing in line to get shit dropped on your head. Everyone's got a place in the queue, you can't get out of it, and just when you start to congratulate yourself on surviving your dose of shit, you discover that the line is actually circular.” this review contains mass amounts of quotes and fanart because I'm so inlove with these books and can't get enough. You have been warned**

His oaths are no business of yours. And many good men lie dying, in desperate want of aid, in Lashain and Karthain and every other place in the world. Do you see the scholar saddling his horse to seek them out?” That line is iconic. If Gentleman Bastards is ever made into a movie or TV series, it will be Sabetha's "You know nothing, Jon Snow." Could you see The Republic of Thieves being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

There you go! That’s what happened in The Republic of Thieves . We hope youenjoyed this The Republic of Thieves summary with spoilers.
