The Toronto International Film Festival announced today the 2023 selections for the highly regarded Midnight Madness program. The cops arrive on the scene later and after their preliminary investigations they call in the 11th Hour Cleaning services. The group is made up of Dylan (Edward Finlay) the owner, his wife Rachel (Anita Leeman Torres), his brother-in-law Marcus (Ed Morrone) who is an ex-convict and Hannah (Chloe Brooks) who happens to be Marcus’ ex-girlfriend. It might not be enough to satisfy true hard-core fans of the genre but it is enough to satisfy an average viewer. I would score this 5.5/10.

The film tells the story of a group of crime scene cleaners that struggle to escape a murder house after becoming trapped by an ancient Nordic demon that is hell-bent on driving them insane. Hour Cleaning is one of the few times I wish a film had taken a bit longer to get going. The house, dark and full of bloody messes, is inherently creepy. Taking a few minutes to build up an atmosphere of dread would have helped the film considerably. The demon is made out of CGI smoke with glowing eyes, and the CGI of a character being tossed out of a window is incredibly awful. Despite an interesting premise, the best thing I can say about 11th Hour Cleaning is that it actually only runs sixty-four minutes with seven minutes of end credits.
