About this deal

Red Food Coloring (totally optional), but if you want a darker blood color, then add a few drops of red food coloring for effect! I placed my fake IV bags in a bowl with the tubing pointed up. It wasn’t very messy this way and I was able to clip them off easily. The bags didn’t tip over and I was able to wait to clip them until all my bags were filled. You might have a few questions before committing to this idea- How do you fill fake blood bags with drinks?

Simmer for 5 mins, then turn off the heat. You may want to strain the punch through a fine sieve if the spice residue bothers you.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

If you want something easy and non-alcoholic for the kiddos, try my Goosebumps Punch recipe! More Halloween Party Ideas! Tequila– we used tequila blanco, but you can use a Reposado or Anejo if that is what you have on hand. Carbonation– we don’t advise putting any carbonated liquids into the blood bags. If you are serving in a punch bowl, you can add some carbonation like ginger ale, tonic water, orange seltzer, or lemon lime soda to this adult beverage to make it effervescent. Making this blood Halloween punch is very easy! I used a combination of cranberry juice, pineapple juice and lemon lime soda. But you could use any dark red juice such as pomegranate, cherry or fruit punch. Ginger ale would also be a good substituent for the lemon lime soda. I made this a non-alcoholic drink recipe because I wanted it to be kid friendly but you could add vodka if this is for an adults only celebration. This isn’t drinkable blood. It is simply a red punch that works well as a fake blood drink.

So really, this drink is a Red Russian, made with just two ingredients: vodka and cherry liqueur. If you’re not a big cherry fan, you can also use strawberry schnapps.I’ve made fake blood in the past. A few years ago I made a fun Halloween popcorn and called it bloody bones popcorn. I realized the same mixture I used to cover the popcorn would also harden and appear like blood and dare I say flesh. Ewww, right? It works great if you are making the popcorn already but it makes a lot and it is very hot so you have to be careful. It also takes a bit more effort to wash so I wanted to come up with the easiest way to make fake blood.

Blood Bag Tip: I recommend moving the clip down a bit from what is shown above so that it is easy to take a drink without hitting the clip. Our first thought was to use Hibiscus tea, but I couldn’t find any at the store, so I bought passion fruit tea instead. This was actually a great choice, as it went really well with the Crystal Light Raspberry Lemonade mix. It was tangy and we knew we could add some sweet flavors to make some perfect Halloween punch recipes. Simple Syrup– an optional ingredient, but depending on how sweet your pineapple and lime juices are, you may want to add a dash of homemade simple syrup to the recipe.Garnish– obviously if you are serving this spooky Halloween punch recipe in a blood bag glass you don’t need a garnish, it is the garnish. If you are serving out of a punch bowl, place some plastic vampire teeth at the top of the glass, or a fresh orange peel will take it to the next level. The gruesome blood bags are so much fun for a spooky season party. They are the perfect scary themed drinks. Included with my blood bags was a syringe with a very narrow opening that holds 50 millimeters of liquid. That works out to be just under 3 ounces of punch so you’ll need to repeat this process several times to fill up a single blood bag. I found that around 5 times to be just about right so they weren’t overfilled.

These would also be fun for a nurse’s graduation party, as well, a True Blood or Vampire Diaries watch party, and more. Other flavors– you could sub the vodka for some rum, you could even add fresh lemon juice or lime juice. If it isn’t sweet enough, you can add some simple syrup, but all ideas will make for a happy Halloween! Cool, right? This may have been done before by someone else but I refuse to look that up to find out. I am proud of myself for coming up with the idea and I’d rather live in a bubble where I’m the first one. Sometimes people even mix those two with some cranberry juice, which is what I would recommend doing if you want to fill your blood bags nice and full! Filling the Blood Bags– We found that each bag takes about 2.5 syringes full of liquid. Snap the clip closed to stop liquid from coming out of the straws. Try not to overfill.

Making a non-alcoholic variation of a classic holiday punch can be as easy as eating a healthy breakfast! This is a non-alcoholic punch drink that works for big and small parties! It is a simple mix in a large pitcher or a large punch bowl, then guests serve themselves. This blood punch recipe does not contain any alcohol, but it will give anyone a good scare. Each ingredient is combined to make the perfect bloody punch.
