About this deal

Mid-level animal clinic features an examination table, parrot perch, fish tank and a waiting area with sofa, armchair, table and flowerpot, plus the animal doctor's desk lamp, microscope, mug, newspaper, envelope, scissors and syringe. The roof section repeats the greebling of the second floor and finishes it off with decorative finials. There are two mechanics and a dog who work in Jo's Garage on the ground floor. Maybe it's old man Jo who it's named after or maybe young Jo. If the latter, the boss is not afraid to get her hands -- and face -- dirty by the looks of it. Like the front wall on the ground floor, this next floor follows the same off-grid angle, using 1×2 rounded plates to connect the wall on each side. To fill in gaps on either side of the angled wall, there are columns with a row of 1×1 “double-cheese” (or “tent”) pieces in light gray. The walls look flat as a result, with a column of 1×1 pieces providing an accent — a remarkably clever way of filling what would otherwise be an unsightly gap.

Anyway, after something like 6 hours of building, another hour or so photographing and post-processing and a couple more writing it, I'm pleased to be able to bring you this review so soon after its reveal. One of our favorite details built into the garage is this rolling tool cabinet, which uses 1×2 plates with rails to evoke the drawers. The sixth and final set of bags includes the parts for the roof, which is a fairly simple construction with details largely focused on the studs-out cornice. Sand blue is a colour that doesn't get used as much as it should be. It complements the dark orange perfectly. The second and third bags include the parts for the rest of the ground floor, including the gas station island and awning. One of the 4×4 plates in the island’s base clips into the white turntable base described above. The vet’s office waiting area has two couches, with a resident parrot on a perch and a large fish in a small aquarium. The orange fish in the aquarium is attached to the wall with a Technic pin, and as we saw in the official product photos, tends to want to “float” upside down — perhaps the vet should look into getting a larger tank that doesn’t kill his fish… https://www.google.com/maps/ @51.2090578,4.4488105,3a,75y,220.43h,92.7t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sWKl9yb1HJ9IPIVLXfLo41w!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 The bay window is built using two sand blue train windows on their side. There's a view of the second floor, below, that shows how they are connected. I don't think I've seen them used in this way before. It looks excellent. In keeping with the theme of being a garage, the parapets used vehicle mudguards and curved slopes which are often used in LEGO on cars. Ok, so it’s not as inspiring as the hero factory fists but it does stay with the theme and looks nice. The rest of the roof is fairly plain. There is a small flower area and a recliner with an umbrella to sunbathe at. The hatchway to the roof though is simple but nicely done in line with that era’s style. Conclusion

As with many buildings in the modular theme, LEGO has continued with the Americana feel. This garage looks like it would belong in many smaller cities in the United States circa 1950. It has many of the things you’d expect to find in a garage, for example: a tire changer, oil cans and tires for sale in the window, a car lift and a tool chest. The vehicles included in this set are a tow truc, and a classic Vespa-style scooter in 322 Medium Azur Medium Azure. The garage also houses the garage attendants and contains everything that comes with them. Here you can see the inside the bay window. The train window assemblies are held in place by the grey telescope pieces at the side. The sideways ship windows are attached to plates with clips, which in turn attach to columns of telescope pieces (as shown in this photo from the next floor up, which has less clutter in front of the window). Bags #3 provide the remainder of the parts for the ground floor structure, the petrol pump and the awning above.

The overall floor plan of the top story (bag group 5) is essentially identical to the middle story with the vet’s office, minus the central dividing wall perpendicular to the front wall. This makes the top floor fairly wide open, focused more on the interior details to which we’ll return later in this review. Like the recent LEGO Star Wars set 75251 Darth Vader’s Castle, the initial reaction from LEGO fans and collectors has been mixed. But how does the set hold up when we look beyond the box photos and actually start building? LEGO Bookshop & Town House set This LEGO modular building set for adults comes with a plethora of decorative elements and quirky details, from the basement, through to the living space, reception room, up the staircase and a mezzanine, to the loft bedroom and down charming gardens. This set makes a great LEGO gift for adults! It's a challenging build with playful and nostalgic details and an impressive addition to any LEGO collector’s display. Connect the bookshop to the LEGO Creator Expert 10260 Downtown Diner and 10264 Corner Garage (sold separately) to create your own surprising street scenes. What strikes me as funny is the amount of people now complaining about the rather basic interior, while with previous MB there were comments about the fact that to much focus and pieces were going to the interior...
