first of all, can we just appreciate his full name “malakai” for a minute ughh, it’s so hot istg. this man is the definition of a good man, and a good dad. he was funny, reliable, respectful, responsible, etc. total dilf material, just saying. he was always so scared and nervous about not being a good enough father for his son (he was literally perfect). and the way this man treated miller was literally perfect, even tho he fell completely in love with miller, he never begged her to stay, he wanted to tho but he never did, because he didn’t want her to give up her dream job, because of him. and for not to talk about this man’s communication skills, omfg it’s so hot when a man can communicate very hard to find in real life btw. he literally helped miller take off her make-up because she was drunk, he literally ASKED if he could help take off her make-up blushing and giggling omfg. i could write a book about how perfect this man is, but i won’t so i’ll stop my rambling now. Also, I feel like there needed to be a few more specific scenes between Miller and Kai. There was a lot of internal monologuing and not as many real intimate moments as I think there needed to be to really feel the connection between them.

Maybe he should loosen up every once in a while. He’s got a cute- ass kid and an even cuter smile when he shows it.” Growing with not only Zanders but Stevie is insane and makes me love this book so much. The portrayal of mental health in Liz’s book is simply incredible. With all his books, I never wanted them to end. I can’t wait for the next book in the series and see Liz becoming an even more amazing author. mind you, this was just because in their first interaction he assumed she wanted an autograph, but she actually didn’t, so he got offended. how pathetic. 🙄he had a cute relationship with his best friend/teammate’s child, Ella. we didn’t get much scenes of them together but i enjoyed the ones we got. Authors, if you are a member of the Goodreads Author Program, you can edit information about your own books. Find out how in this guide. Your mom is the absolute worst, Zee.” “So is yours. I rest my head on his shoulder. “Look at us,” I tease. “Trauma-bonding.❞

kai is the starting pitcher for chicago’s MLB team (baseball), but being the starting pitch for the team is hard for kai, especially because he’s raising his son max too. being there for his son has always been kai’s first priority, therefore he keeps firing all his son’s nannies. the teams coach monty is tired of kai firing every nanny within 2 weeks, so he gives kai a nanny he can’t just fire, his own daughter miller who just came to chicago for the summer, because she needed a break from her job. You’ll always be my first choice. Have been since the day I met you, sweetheart.” My Review First Impressions The supporting characters- Indy, was the most annoying character in this book for me. The way she talks is just so damn immature, it irked me a lot. Maddison and his whole family were sweet. Ryan is another character I liked. Caught Up" is an amazing follow up and instalment to the "Windy City Series" and I am here for all of it!! I don’t know if I’ve ever felt as self-conscious as I do in this moment. It’s as if I’m all too aware of the area I’m occupying, with other bodies swarming around me. It’s as if I need to apologize for existing in this space. For being the size I am. For not being small enough to squeeze past the crowd without bothering anyone.❞SCREAMING, THROWING UP, WALKING IN A HIGHWAY, DIVING INTO THE OCEAN WITH MY TOASTER!! (I can’t even swim) Zander’s conversation with his father had me crying. The way his relationship with his father came around… 😢. They’re literally so funny. I had a great time reading their banters. And they’re so annoyingly adorable as well like every time they started with the whole “are you following me?” thing it was OVER for me. I couldn’t help but giggle like a 14 year old girl. The guy could be out partying every night, getting away with any and every thing, but instead, he’s at home taking care of his son as a single dad. here is his 🏅🎖️🎗️🥇🏆🏆 the bar for men 🥺it’s giving “i babysit my kids”

I didn't know that was a moment i needed to read so badly, but when Max finally said 'mama' to Miller that hit me right in my chest. It was so cute. 🥺 the side characters were all amazing, max kai’s son, monty miller’s dad and kai’s coach, isaiah kai’s brother and his teammate, zanders and stevie from the first book “mile high”, rio zanders teammate, ryan and indy from the second book “the right move”. i hope she actually listened to people’s criticisms this time about writing stories that aren’t hers to tell Stevie and Zander. Their chemistry was amazing and I can’t fault that. The banter, the dialogue, everything about them together worked.

See a Problem?

I loved the sibling relationship between brother and sister ( twins - heroine and her brother). I loved how it was free of toxicity. Because in most books the brother tries to run his sisters life in an attempt to “protect” her while realistically doing more damage. I absolutely loved how her brother was there for her and supported her in every aspect while letting her make the decisions about her life and being there for her if something didn’t work out. He did the same with his family ( his mom who was an amazing mother to him but was toxic and awfully passive aggressive to his sister). He stood by the sister and respectfully told his mom off for acting differently towards the two of them. It was healing to read about such a great dynamic of siblings. It was one of the best days of my life. one of the scariest too, because that name holds so much weight. so much responsibility. and all I wanted to do was live up to it.“ he gets “better” (less insufferable) after a few chapters, which is obviously predictable so i don’t know why i’m saying this. and, even though i’m not Zander’s biggest fan, i can admit that there was a few nice things about his character:

THE WHOLE SCENE IN THE BATHROOM WAS EVERYTHING. please if u read anything, read this. it was the most beautiful scene ever. The shelter and the doggies!! oml if you know me I’m a big dog girl (I have three). I love animals so so much so that’s something I and the f.m.c shared in common. She might need a reminder that she’s working for me, but I’ll make sure she understands. I’m petty that way. I’ll remember that little interaction for as long as she’s on my airplane.” I didn’t understand the role he was forced to play for that long? Probably because I have zero interests in sports. Nah, I’m still enjoying it,” I tell him honestly. “I gotta get that renewed contract by the end of the season, so until then, we have to keep it going.”

Alternating POV

Mile High is my first book by Liz Tomforde and I loved it so much! Zanders and Stevie were so much fun together- their banter was top notch and their chemistry was out of this world. I’m happy to say that I very much loved this book. I connected to the characters right away, felt like they were fully formed and complex, I loved their banter, their chemistry, I loved the build up and the way the whole story developed - I really think it was done very well and I had a great time reading it.
