About this deal

There are a total of 26 different variations, consisting of 18 variations of the basic MP600, four versions of the Pro Scout, three different versions of the MP600 ST, and the MP600 DET. I used to joke that you could center your entire collection on MP600's and probably never get all the variants.... well, it seems that statement is a bit more accurate than I thought! The MP600 DET is even more specialized than the Sight Tool variant. Gerber designed this tool for the highly specific needs of US Army combat engineers working with explosives. The key tools for this are the blasting cap crimper pliers and C4 punch useful only when dealing with plastic explosives. The first impression of the Gerber MP600 Pro Scout is that it looked about the same as the Gerber 600 until you open it up to reveal all the tools! The Gerber MP600 Pro-Scout includes: The Gerber MP600 base model comes with four different screwdrivers, one phillips head and three flatheads of various sizes. The phillips head has a tapering point that fits reasonably well in a variety of screw sizes but is a bit stubby compared to some of the offerings from Gerber’s competitors. The flat heads fill a useful range of sizes, starting fairly small and moving up to a standard largish. None of them will work for electronic sized screws unfortunately.

The MP600 is 4.9 inches long closed and comes in at 9 oz. That’s a little larger and heavier than some other full size multi tools but not too bulky overall. One of the really interesting things about the MP600 is how adaptable it is. Currently Gerber offers close to 20 different versions of this tool, with different configurations of plier types, finish, tool loadout, and intended use. Gerber mp600 Tools Here's the 26 I have listed, with item and UPC numbers and descriptions, in case the pics above aren't legible. What tools can you expect to find on a standard multitool? The list can vary widely, but it should include a screwdriver (with a Phillips and flat-head driver, at least), pliers, scissors and possibly a knife or two. Most will also have a bottle opener or something you can use as one. It’s a good bet that this tool is the one that will see the most actual use among weekend warriors. Furthermore, it has a wire cutter designed in such a way that you can use it for cutting small stems and branches with ease. Other Nice Features of the Gerber MP600

With a one-of-a-kind construction, useful tools, and Gerber's blade pedigree, the Multi-Plier 600 is an excellent value. The price is moderate, the sheath is included, and the tool will last you years. Keep an eye on the bushings and hinges as they wear and loosen. Like we observed, this can enhance the functionality. But it also comes with some risk of further break-down. Everything from the tactical appearance and rugged design to the DET/Sight Tool variants and Berry compliant sheaths are focused on this market. The needle nose pliers are also among the most valuable components of this Gerber multi-tool. It has a tip, which is small enough that it can handle more precise tasks, like getting rid of splinters and bending fish hooks. It provides an extra grip, thanks to its beak, which has small serrations to enhance it even further. This is a pretty cool concept overall. Instead of building separate tools for different needs Gerber designed a standard multi tool body that they then filled with different kinds of tools. They have versions available for general use, M4/M16 maintenance, combat engineering/demolition, and more.Fiskars scissors – You don’t realize how many times you need flipping scissors until you’ve got them.

Gerber made it a point to use a unique design for the can and bottle openers of its MP600. One thing that makes it different from the others is that unlike other multi-tools available on the market, the MP600 has a separate can opener and bottle opener. The Gerber MP600 Sight Tool includes the standard tool loadout of the MP600 with just a few tweaks. It’s designed to provide the perfect tool for infantry, police, and firearms enthusiasts everywhere. The namesake tool of this multi tool is the M4/M15/AR15 sight adjuster tool. No multi tool would be complete without optional accessories. In Gerber’s case there are some that can really amplify the value of your multi tool.

The Gerber MP600 Pro-Scout has some outstanding features, namely the ability to accept any 2 inches (or 5cm) universal jigsaw blades and the Fiskars scissors. I would have given this tool a 9 for over-all durability if it were stainless. The coating, which falls under this category, has kept it off of the throne. You can also find versions of this product that come with replaceable tungsten carbide blades featuring a triangular design. This blade works perfectly for wires that are stubborn and difficult to cut.
