About this deal

Evohome is a considerably more comprehensive and expensive bit of kit in comparison to similar smart thermostat technology. It needs to be programmed manually and can be rather difficult to set up, so you’re probably better off paying for a professional heating engineer to carry out the installation – adding to the cost but will help you get the most out of your new thermostat. Inbuilt Optimization Intuitive and versatile programming allows the unit to more efficiently control your home's heating and cooling needs That said, if you want cutting edge smart thermostat features like AI-powered scheduling and geofencing, you’re better off trying something like the Nest learning thermostat, Hive thermostat, or if zonal control is important to you, Tado. The Honeywell Evohome allows you to set schedules for each individual thermostat, so if you know that your bedroom is only used at night, you can set it to be cold during the day, heat up half an hour before you head to bed, and then cool down to your preferred sleeping temperature through the night.

You can also find a range of smart heating controls, perfect for controlling the heating in your home. Boasting incredibly user-friendly features, including clever WiFi controllers to easily control these Honeywell Home Evohome devices, you can have complete control in the palm of your hand. Simply connect to the app and you’re ready to go! If you’re the sort of household that leaves all the doors open, you’re going to have a problem with temperature bleed between rooms, a particular problem if you’ve rooms or corridors without radiators. Your first job is to set a schedule for each zone. A setup wizard helps you, but we found it easier to take each room and control it separately. For example, you may want your bathroom to heat up early so it’s warm when you get up; you can fire up the kitchen a little later, so it’s warm when you get downstairs. There will be times where your schedule doesn’t quite work, such as if you come home early from work. At this point, Evohome is also exceptionally flexible, and you can manually dial up the temperature from the controller, app or by spinning the TRV’s rotating head, and using the integrated screen to see the set temperature. For those interested in ‘smart zoning’ their home, the Evohome Controller acts as the ‘brains’ of the system. It can time and temperature control up to 12 heating zones and a single domestic hot water zone.

Imagine a room thermostat

It’s not that the design is unpleasant; it’s just clearly been designed to be functional rather than fashionable. It does mean that it’ll probably be able to fit in with a wide range of interior design styles, but for our taste the range could do with a bit of an image upgrade. No contemporary connected home is complete without smart home heating controls. Giving you greater control of your home heating, they allow you to access your smart thermostats on the go from an app on your phone or tablet. Thanks to the latest state-of-the-art technology, smart heating controls are able to learn your habits to switch the heating and hot water on and off exactly when you need them. So, your home will always be warm and cosy, and you’ll be able to save money on your energy bills.

Installation of the Evohome system is a little more involved than with some other smart thermostats available due to the fact that each radiator in your house needs to be fitted with an individual thermostat. We were blown away by how simple the Honeywell Evohome was to set up and use. The app is brilliantly designed, and all of the features are genuinely useful. It doesn’t feel like there’s anything superfluous about the kit or the app. Schedules can be adjusted by day, too, so you can run your heating to suit your activity, such as changing things for the weekend when you may lie in for a bit. Configuration of the TRVs is super flexible, and multiple units can be combined into a single zone. This is particularly handy if you’ve got rooms with multiple radiators. We found the TRVs a little loud, and you can hear a small mechanical whine as they turn on. It took us a few weeks to get used to this in the bedroom, but we could sleep through the noise in the end. According to Honeywell, the best energy savings can be achieved by efficiently managing the temperature of individual zones, or rooms. Having modular control over the temperature of individual zones is what sets Evohome apart from other smart heating systems like the popular Nest and Tado. Feature
