About this deal

The Comandante C40 is available in a lot of different finishes. You can get the classic one with wood veneer or the newer versions in solid colors. Unique features I have had the problem of hand grinders slipping in your hands before and it make the whole process so much harder. Separate the two main parts of the grinder by either screwing or twisting the upper chamber away from the lower chamber. This model is quite iconic, and you’ll often see this design if you visit a flea market in Europe. When you say “coffee mill” there’s a good chance that older people would think of this specific model. One of the great joys of my job here at CoffeeGeek is that I get to discover and use exceptional products. For years and years, I was used to the idea that, if I wanted a quality hand grinder, I had to go with something from Orphan Espresso and their huge and heavy Lido models. The OE Lido does set a high bar on quality output, but it’s not exactly a good travel solution.

If you are looking to freshly grind your coffee on the go, Porlex has created a superb grinder for you. Are you looking for a travel-friendly grinder or a home model? If you like to take your AeroPress on the road, you may want to choose a hand-operated model that will fit inside. If you don’t want to put in the elbow grease and don’t want to prioritize portability, you may appreciate the added features of an electric model. On coarser settings for French press or the 4:6 method, you can almost achieve 1 gram per second, which is outrageous. On finer settings, you’re closer to 0,7-0,5 gram per second, which is still very, very acceptable. The K-Max also has a magnetic catch cup. Again, this is a pleasure to use. It might seem like a small thing, but it’s so convenient.

The JavaPresse is also somewhat challenging to clean, thanks to its very narrow design. These things aside, it’s a great option for buyers who want a manual grinder. In general, manual coffee grinders take around one minute to grind enough for a big cup. It does take some effort to grind by hand — I’m not going to sugarcoat it. Pro-tip: Both the Porlex Mini and the 1Zpresso Mini Q actually fit inside an Aeropress which makes them ideal for travel travel! They don’t develop any heat while grinding For even larger capacities, consider the Skerton Pro, reviewed in this post, or the HandGround, discussed here, both of which have a 100 g capacity. Or take a look at the Lido 3, which can hold up to 70g of beans. Keep in mind: The finer you grind, the more times you’ll have to turn the crank. For that reason alone I suggest people who want a grinder for espresso to opt for an electric one. More reasons to get one…

Since you will have a minuscule amount of retained, stale grounds, you can be sure that that the next dose you grind, will taste fresh. A hand grinder can help you make delicious coffee If you want an electric coffee grinder that doesn’t break the bank, you’re going to love the Bellemain. All the convenience of an electric coffee grinder for the price of a manual unit. That means that for the same price you can get a solidly built hand crank grinder with excellent burrs. Or you can choose to go ultra-budget and still get a hand mill that is capable of producing a good cup. A hand crank mill is very durable To avoid these problems, it's important to clean and maintain your manual coffee grinder regularly, adjust the coffee grind size according to the brewing method, and use the manual grinder for short periods of time to prevent overheating. Timemore is a relatively new Chinese coffee company that makes products aimed at the manual brewing segment. The main argument for getting the grinder, though is that the combination of build quality, size, consistency, usability, AND the price is just phenomenal. Many of Timemore’s products have a distinctive look and feel, but there are also some weird glitches in their visual identity here and there. Sometimes they have funny translations and product names that are a bit off.
