About this deal

If you’re looking to find one of the best 4K projectorsout there, but don't want to spend the exorbitant sums that top-tier models from JVC and Sony command, look no further than the Epson Pro Cinema LS12000. This machine uses a laser light engine to shine an almost unbeatable image, making it a perfect choice for watching movies at home on a wall-mounted projection screen. Sound quality on the speakers is fine on its own, but you’ll probably want to match such high-quality image with high-quality speakers. We found that the sound was generally a little midsy, and there wasn’t a ton of detail in the high end, but they’re certainly passable for most situations. Again, though, for true home theaters, you’ll want to invest in something with a little more oomph. Impressively low fan noise and a reasonably bright image make this table-top projector feel like great value in either the 1080P edition we tested or its flagship 4K cousin. The throw of 120-inches at 3.37m (and up to 200") makes for a genuinely cinematic image and, for a portable device, the Dolby-friendly dual 10W speakers do a good job of filling the room with sound. Over the years, we've reviewed many of the best 4K projectors, from some of the highest-specified models on the market through to the more affordable and high-value ones. Not every viewer has the same needs when buying a 4K projector, so we’ve made our recommendations here based on a range of requirements, from no-compromise home cinema to sports viewing and portable use – and in all cases, tested by us. The marked brightness, the measured value from internal testing, is based on the brightness standard that users perceive.

RPI/CPI Price Increase - Each year, your Pay Monthly airtime tariff will be adjusted according to Three's Fixed Annual Price Change (Three), the Retail Price Index (O2) or Consumer Price Index (EE, Vodafone) rate of inflation. The picture looks great, with a resolution of glorious 4K UHD and a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1. A nice touch is the integrated stereo sound system, which is of surprisingly high quality, to the point where you could even use the projector as a Bluetooth speaker for streaming music if you wanted.

Out-of-the-box support for Netflix via a interface a lot like a smart TV makes the Emotn N1 a great device to have around the home. Wi-Fi or Ethernet supply the app, while an HDMI port offers more traditional input and portability is completed with two 5W Dolby Digital Plus speakers built into the housing.

If you're looking to get the movie theater experience at home, you're probably better off with a projector rather than a massive 85-inch TV. Home theater projectorshave gotten a lot more affordable in recent years, and they allow you to enjoy all your shows, movies and games on a stunning 100-inch-plus screen from the comfort of your own living room. You can even pair a projector with a soundbar for immersive, room-filling audio.Do not install projector headlight bulbs, like HID bulbs, in reflector housings. Doing so can blind other drivers, because HID bulbs are extremely bright and reflector housings do not control the direction in which light leaves your vehicle.

The biggest difference is light output. Traditional, full-size projectors can get much brighter than any portable mini projector. Most portable projectors use an LED lamp, while full-size projectors have either UHP lamps (which are basically high-powered light bulbs) or laser light sources. Projector light output is measured in lumens. The brightest portable projectors we've reviewed measure about 350 lumens, while a traditional home theater projector measures 1,500 lumens or more. If you do move away from the sofa to head outdoors, you’ll need a model that is small and light enough to carry with you on your travels. There are some monstrous ones on this list that come in at over 11 kilos, and we’ve also featured little ones that weigh as little as half a kilo. Cost is important, of course. But it's best to start at the other end and ask, what is it that you want the projector to do? Is it something you want to take out in the garden on summer nights, or is it a projector for a comfy home cinema room? Will it live in darkness, or will you want to use it in brightly lit rooms? What do you want to connect it to?With its 4,000 lumens brightness spec, this Epson ultra short throw is a perfect option for viewing sports in a well-lit room, and it also has a Yamaha-designed built-in speaker system that creates a strong virtual surround sound effect. Brightness is measured in lumens, and the rule of thumb is to get as many lumens as possible - around 2,500 is the sweet spot. If you want to make the most of those darker films (looking at you, Batman) then keep it in mind. Contrast Ratio If you're going down the home cinema route, you're generally looking at more premium projectors with 4K resolution, HDR, high contrast and high light output from LED or laser. More portable devices tend to cut a few corners in favour of portability and practicality.
