International Journal of Pharmaceutics: "Current Trends in the Research of Emblica officinalis (Amla): A Pharmacological Perspective." But amla fruits are known to be high in powerful antioxidants and other nutrients that have very well established health benefits. Amla oils also contain additional nutrients and antioxidants associated with the type of oil used. To curb premature greying of hair, make dry amla powder and curd together, apply this paste on hair for 30 minutes, and wash. Using it at regular intervals helps to boost hair growth and reduce premature greying of hair. Allergies: Some individuals may be allergic to amla. If you experience any allergic reactions, such as itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional.

High in dietary fiber, dry amla aids in digestion and helps prevent constipation. Dried gooseberry also stimulates the secretion of gastric and digestive juices, facilitating smoother digestion. III. Supports Heart Health A study by the National Health Institute says dry amla is high in fibre and slows sugar absorption into your bloodstream, preventing spikes in blood sugar levels. 6. Cures Pimple And AcneAnother relevant outcome obtained from these studies is the non-significant cytotoxicity of extracts in the range of concentrations (up to 100 μg/mL) where the antioxidant activity and induction of the antioxidant defense system were observed [ 32, 35, 36]. It is worth mentioning that a recent experiment indicated that a higher concentration (200 μg/mL) of extract would be required to reduce reactive oxygen species levels and improve their survivability in myoblasts [ 37]. A 2017 preliminary study on mice found that a patented herbal mixture containing amla powder might stimulate hair growth among people who experience hair loss. Amla, also known as Indian gooseberries, grows on a flowering tree of the same name. The small berries are round and bright or yellow-green. Though they are quite sour on their own, their flavor can enhance recipes they’re added to. Treatment with amla has shown to reduce toxic markers and markers of inflammation. In addition to this, high content of ascorbic acid present in it has a great ability to counteract the toxic effects, which may be caused by chemicals, certain metal salts, drug overdose or over intake of alcohol. However, it was further found that its extract is more effective than ascorbic acid alone. Therefore, it can be used safely in the treatment of liver injury or liver damage. A significant number of health problems including cancer are caused by oxidative damage –when body cells use oxygen, they leave behind harmful by-products called free radicals. Considering amla is a potent antioxidant agent, it can prevent this oxidation and help in protecting the cell. 5. Amla beautifies hair Be it arthritis-related joint aches or painful mouth ulcers, amla can provide relief owing to its anti-inflammatory properties. Amla is a fruit and an ayurvedic herb, botanically known as Phyllanthus Emblica (Emblica Officinalis). It belongs to the Phyllanthaceae family. It is native to India. However, its plants are also found in China, South-east Asia, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Its fruits are used fresh and dried. Both are known for their therapeutic, nutritional and health benefits. Botanical Description Regarding the phenolic acids, the presence of hydroxybenzoic acids (4-hydroxybenzoic acid, coumaric acid, gallic acid, protocatechuic acid, syringic acid, and vanillic) acid were identified in the fresh fruit and commercial products prepared from the fruits [ 16, 17, 18, 19, 20]. Gallic acid is the only hydroxybenzoic acid reported in leaves and branches [ 21]. The presence of hydroxycinnamic acids (caffeic acid and chlorogenic acid) was indicated only in amla fruits [ 16, 17, 18]. Another class of compounds reported in the amla plant is flavonoids (particularly flavonols, flavones, flavanones, and flavan-3-ols). Flavonols are widely distributed in the different sections of the amla plant. Kampferol their derivatives (dihydrokaempferol, kaempferol 3-b-dglucopyranoside, kaempferol 3-o-rhamnoside, kaempferol-3-o-α-l-(6″-ethyl)-rhamnopyranoside, and kaempferol-3-o-α-l-(6″-methyl)-rhamnopyranoside) are found in fruits, leaves branches and shoots [ 19, 21, 22, 23]. In a similar way, quercetin and its derivatives (quercetin 3-b- D-glucopyranoside, quercetin 3-O-glucoside, quercetin 3-O-rhamnoside, and rutin) are distributed in fruits, leaves and branches [ 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 23]. Yes! Amla contains folate, calcium, vitamin C and vitamin A, which is excellent for pregnant women. Still, you can consult your doctor before consuming to clear your doubts.Amla is a great source of Vitamin C as well as antioxidants known as polyphenols that are believed to combat and protect against cancer causing free radicals. It can also help balance all the three doshas ( vata/pitta/kapha) in the body and treat the underlying cause of many health problems. Modern drugs cause many side effects, which mainly affect the liver functions and some cause liver damage. Scientific research has found that it protects the liver against Paracetamol. Paracetamol is a drug that is used to treat fever and mild pain. The over-consumption of Paracetamol may cause damage to the liver. It is considered to as a potent liver-protective agent. Free radicals and reactive oxygen species directly damage the liver and thus, alter its normal structure and function. Indian Gooseberry is very abundant source of natural antioxidants such as tannins, flavonoids, and vitamin C. Studies have shown that such a unique antioxidant composition of amla possesses strong antioxidant properties. It scavenges free radicals and thus normalizes overall function and structure of liver. ( 9) A December 2017 study reconfirmed previous findings that the seven phenols found in amla oil fruits had anti-cancer properties. Another study from late 2017 found that hypothyroid female rats on a high-fat diet for 6 weeks reduced oxidative stress and inflammation. Many studies have also demonstrated amla may have anti-diabetic properties. Although these results are promising, more research is needed to assess how amla powder affects human hair. Overall health While the mixture is still slightly warm, apply the oil to the scalp for one or two hours, then rinse off. The mixture can also be left on overnight or until the next shower or bath. The mixture can also be applied to the skin and left on.
