About this deal

A really good modern mystery novel with lots of twists and turns. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys crime fiction detective novels. a b Wales, George (5 February 2014). "Ben Wheatley confirms Tom Hiddleston for High-Rise". Total Film . Retrieved 22 May 2014. I did think it was funny everyone in the community knew about a certain thing… but our kid detectives? Totally oblivious. XD I thought that the plot was good but did not enjoy the way the book was written. For most of the book, the word used most was said.

The film ends as it began in the ravaged high-rise. Violence has abated somewhat since many residents are dead or have fled. Laing appears to have gone insane, speaking about himself and to others in the third person. He lies down with Charlotte, reflecting that what has happened will eventually occur in the second tower of the development. The film concludes with Toby listening to a radio broadcast of Margaret Thatcher declaring that "where there is state capitalism there can never be political freedom." Child, Ben (29 August 2013). "Ben Wheatley to direct adaptation of JG Ballard's High Rise". The Guardian . Retrieved 22 May 2014. Nik and Norva are two very different siblings with one big thing in common. They are detectives! They are nosey, gobby and always on the lookout for a new mystery. Only it hits a bit too close to home when they find friend and art teacher Hugo dead! But who done it!? All the evidence points to their dad, but when he is arrested, they are under pressure to prove his innocence. Oliver Lyttelton (13 June 2014). " 'The Hobbit' Star Luke Evans Joins Tom Hiddleston In Ben Wheatley's 'High Rise' ". IndieWire. Archived from the original on 16 June 2014 . Retrieved 16 June 2014. Second, the characters are woefully one-dimensional, their dialogue sounds unnatural - here's a line from a teenage character: "...Anyway, be glad I went because it was flames and fire. Big. Secondly, I did text you, innit. But you think you're all that. Leaving me on read. I see you." Woof. What teenager do you know speaks like this? Speaking of bad character writing, literally any character Nik questions in the story seem to be more than willing to spout any information they have right off the bat! Nik asks where they last seen the victim, they just tell her everything - I was here, then there, then I went to bed, anyway, see you later, say hi to your Dad for me etc. Where's the investigating, the unforgiving search for answers? Characters should be complex: they should lie, conceal, make themselves unavailable so the mystery is compelling. This book was just two kids walking around their estate asking any and every question hoping someone gives them something. I know they're kids but if a murder has just happened, shouldn't there be more suspense, more discomfort? Shouldn't they look for clues instead of asking for them?Buy from our bookstore and 25% of the cover price will be given to a school of your choice to buy more books. *15% of eBooks. Home > I would have given this a 4.5 if it was an option. Personally I’d have liked more action in it as there were a lot of conversations. But it was a good story overall. Summer in London is hot, the hottest on record, and there's been a murder in THE TRI: the high-rise home to resident know-it-alls, Nik and Norva. Who better to solve the case? Armed with curiosity, home-turf knowledge and unlimited time - until the end of the summer holidays anyway.

Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments Night Mayor Franklefink has vanished from the Transylvanian Express - and it's up to you to solve the case! Part of the Solve Your Own Mystery seri... It was really adventurous and suspenseful, and with the potential surprise lurking around the corner and the surprising twists and turns and detective feel of the book made me feel like I was really in the story and expecting all the twists and turns to be there even when they aren’t. I definetely would reccomend it to someone else.THE BRITISH FILM DESIGNERS GUILD ANNUAL (70th ANNIVERSARY) AWARDS GALA 2017 | thecallsheet.co.uk". www.thecallsheet.co.uk . Retrieved 25 January 2017.

Gallagher, Brian (14 December 2015).
