About this deal

Short enough for a busy parent to actually read and use; utterly reliable and authoritative but never pedantic; wise, kind, and teeming with the chirping voices of children who have ADHD; this cornucopia of a book will feed you over and over again. Wonderfully written, infused with positive energy and solid information. All parents of children who have ADHD should buy it.” (Edward Hallowell, MD, best-selling author ofDelivered from Distraction) As it states on the cover, this book is aimed at children from 6-18 years. One mum noted that as it is written by an American Dr, the parts on the assessment process are obviously targeted at the US way of getting an assessment. It was still regarded as a useful book to have. Sarah is an English Qualified Counsellor, CBT Therapist and Coach. She has written this book after working with hundreds of ADHD parents who have told her “If ONLY I’d known all this stuff while they were growing up”.

Sarah understands ADHD from the inside out and is passionate about turning kids’ lives around.” Dr Helen Read, Psychiatrist, THE ADHD Consultancy I love watching his YouTube videos and would highly recommend you watch them. I do, however, love books, something to have and hold. I’m old school. Some people find his approach authoritarian but, as with all parenting books, I would recommend you take the parts from it that suit you and your family. My daughter would never, ever do time out! When people told me to put her in timeout or on the naughty step, I would tell them to first produce a unicorn singing Sinatra. Do what you can. Working with ADHD children and adolescents for ten years in private practice, Sarah has seen first-hand the road from ‘stroppy kid’ via ‘naughty teen’ to ‘young offender’ and is committed to helping teachers understand their ADHD students before things get out of hand. When I give presentations for parents of children with ADHD and executive skill challenges, my message to them is Most of these kids turn out fine! This book is an excellent blueprint for parents who want to make that happen. Dr. Saline is a skilled therapist who has learned to listen to her clients. This book teaches us to do the same.” (Peg Dawson, EdD, psychologist and author ofSmart but Scattered) Comments Sarah Templeton, a therapist with ADHD herself, has written this book after working with hundreds of ADHD parents from all over the UK who have told her, ‘’if only I’d known all this stuff while they were growing up’’.I listened to this on Audible and loved it – Sarah’s clear, straight talking style and ability to cut through to exactly what you need to know is excellent. I now will be buying the hard copy too as it’s such a good repository to dip into for guidance as things arise. My husband is now diagnosed, starting medication and has Greg as his Coach, who he describes as “one of the most decent human beings he has ever met”.

Recognition & Reviews

Sarah is immensely likeable and authentic and as a result the audio book was a joy. I have never come across such a brilliantly clear and straightforward book which hits the nail on the head in every way. This comes about through them understanding their ADHD and knowing that they can use their drive, passion for winning and not liking being told what to do to achieve hugely in life. It is from this book, which I have listened to numerous times now, recommended to EVERYONE, including my 9 year old’s school, I found ‘ Headstuff ADHD Therapy‘. I can say honestly, as a family, our experience with them has been life changing. If you are in any doubt that your child has ADHD then this book is absolutely essential. You will have your answer after chapter 7 believe me.

Personally, this is my favourite so far. I think it’s brilliant. Probably because I like humour to get through my day and this has loads of that. The insight that she has from having ADHD herself really helps to put the points across. This is my new go-to book for sure.
