About this deal

Twenty-three years earlier, Gray and Kirsty Ross are teenagers on a summer holiday with their parents. The annual trip to Ridinghouse Bay is uneventful, until an enigmatic young man starts paying extra attention to Kirsty. Something about him makes Gray uncomfortable—and it’s not just because he’s a protective older brother. Incredibly slow-moving and rife with oddball characters, I Found You explores what can happen when rash decisions are made in the name of love. Before they ever speak, Gray has a decidedly negative impression of Mark. His family chalks it up to jealousy and possessiveness. How big a role do you think those biases played in shaping Gray’s apprehension around Mark? Is it possible to determine when you should trust your instincts and when you are being unfairly prejudicial? How might you tell the difference? There’s something special about a book that can manage to be intricate and binge-worthy all at once, and it’s this intoxicating combination that makes Lisa Jewell’s psychological thrillers such a hit for me. WATCHING YOU—like all of the Jewell books I’ve read so far—is a story with an intricate plot and a wide-ranging cast of characters. It’s a story that demands you sit up and pay attention, lest you miss one of the cleverly-laid clues the author has hidden throughout the book for readers to uncover, and it’s also a story that ensures you won’t want to do anything but devour it . Jewell somehow manages to craft stories that are complex enough to keep you on your toes, yet accessible enough to allow the reading experience to be all pleasure, no work. In WATCHING YOU, readers follow a cast of deeply suspicious and intriguing individuals whose paths cross in a high-end neighborhood in Bristol, England—and puzzling out the intricacies of their connections to one another will keep readers wholly entertained. In WATCHING YOU, everyone has something to hide, and nothing is as it seems. One of the things I appreciated most about I Found You was Jewell’s ability to make me identify with and care about someone who is nothing like me. Alice makes bad choices. Alice watches the telly rather than reading books. Alice lives somewhat messily. Alice is almost nothing like me and yet I loved her and rooted for her. It’s rare I can be made to care deeply about someone that I cannot find a single thing in common with and it speaks to Jewell as a writer to be able to develop her so gently and so well. Additionally, if you had asked me before I read this book, I would not have believed that you could convince me that a likeable, mostly rational character would invite a total stranger to live in her house and yet, Jewell made that choice fit into who Alice is. Of course Alice would invite Frank in and, of course, the reader will love her for it. Voice…Literally

It's definitely in the vein of a Liane Moriarty or Kate Morton book. It's set in London and the surround suburbs / coastal towns. At the same time in London, Lily, a young bride from Kiev, is searching for her husband. Only married for a few weeks, Lily believes that only grave danger would have taken her husband Carl away from her. The more she searches for him, the more she realizes that she doesn’t know him as well as she thinks. The story is told in the present tense and as a 3rd person narrative. There are 3 stories being told for the first two thirds of the book (alternating chapters), prior to their intersection. Readers can see how they could be connected, but we don't know which person is which person, as there is memory loss and a possible fake name being used. I found the story to be incredibly engaging, the characters were fascinating to learn more about, and the mystery was filled with suspense and I was stumped on who this mystery man was until Jewell revealed his identity near the end. Readers will also notice that I Found You ends on a happier note that some of Jewell’s other novels don’t necessarily end on. It was really nice to read a mystery novel that has some happiness to it after a very sad story overall. The more that I read Jewell’s work, the more I like her. I cannot wait to read more of her novels and see what she comes up with next. This is a well-written psychological with solidly built characters. I have read several of this author's books and she has never disappointed.Gray and Kirsty are teenagers on their annual summer vacation with their parents when they meet a young man who starts to show an interest in Kirsty. Kirsty is young and her brother Gray feels something is off about this guy. He can't quite put his finger on it but something about him makes Gray uncomfortable. However, his sister likes this young man and even their parents think Gray is overreacting.

I never knew who to trust, who to believe, who was in danger, or what to make of the situation, especially when ‘Frank’ begins to have a few memory jogs. The twists are deep, well timed, and surprising, the suspense is taut, but there is an emotional element at play, as well. At the end of the day, there is a sense of long overdue justice and I experienced palpable relief when I was finally able to exhale again. I'm always impressed when an author can pull me so far into a story...I was fully invested in this novel and these characters, whether I loved or hated them, they all felt quite believable. Twenty-two years ago, the third story takes place. A father, mother, daughter Kirsty who is 15 and son Gray who is 17, are on vacation near the beach. They meet a young man named Mark, who is 19. At first Mark seems like a great young man and is very interested in Kirsty. He introduces them to his aunt Kitty, who he is living with up on the hill. Slowly, we see Mark might be deranged, and when Kirsty tries to end it, a battle between the 3 of them begins. It ends in disaster that night, and as the chapters unfold, we see small pieces of the previous events. I Found You, by Lisa Jewell held my attLisa Jewell is fairly new to me , though I have heard a lot about her , this is the first book that I have read written by her and I was quite disappointed because I guess I was expecting too much from this book , but I guess I will give Lisa Jewell another chance ! In I Found You, everyone is a stranger. Alice is a refugee to Ridinghouse Bay, seeking quiet and solitude after a tumultuous life (both generally and romantically). Frank, by virtue of having no idea of who he is, is quiet literally a stranger to everyone, including himself. Lily as the recent immigrant is strange to everyone around her. Gray is the quintessential teenage boy, finding himself, but lonely and adrift in the way only teenagers can be. Carl and Mark are both strangers even, or especially, to those who know them. Lily has only been married a few weeks when her husband simply vanishes into thin air. Being in a new country, having never met her husband’s family face to face, having no friends to call, Lily’s search for the truth is daunting. Finally, able to enlist some help, Lily is baffled by what she discovers about her new husband. The author Lisa Jewell does a phenomenal job in keeping the readers on their toes and making us care about the story. I Found You, is a fast-paced suspenseful novel that should not be missed.
