Unlike a lot of other games where you’ve building a little scene in front of you, there’s just not that joy of looking down at the end of the game, regardless of whether you win or not and being happy with what’s been made. The balance in the game is well done, as each time I’ve played determining the winner has come down to the last one or two turns, making it enjoyable for both novice and advanced gamers. Do this a few times and these frisky friends will produce enough foxes to fill your enclosure and earn you an attraction tile.Ark Nova has quickly risen through the ranks and some even consider it among the best board games of all time. You’ve got a little holding pen area, a green room for animals, to the side as well – if you need to hold on to one of the critters you’ve just acquired.

The tiles are double sided and decent quality, but the shades of green that differentiate each tile size are so close to each other, that it can result in a less than ideal setup time. But you can only gain attractions, which handily fill small gaps, by filling out your enclosures with animals. The game end can usually be seen coming as players will almost certainly need one or two attractions to fill small gaps in their boards, so you can keep an eye on what animals they need to get by breeding or the board. First things first, when you’re going into anything with a zoo/animal theme, you’re almost guaranteed to see the classic lions, tigers, or bears make an appearance. The difficult decisions come when you need to pick the right tile for your board out of two available possibilities.Legacy; and know of other games that are highly regarded but that I haven’t played, like Paleo, Alma Mater, Ride the Rails, and Calico. Tekhenu allows for multiple strategies, but one part you can’t skip are the game’s three types of cards, which can award one-time bonuses, ongoing abilities, or significant points at game end.
