This book I went into blind, but was really blown away by the beauty of it and how well it handled a lot of the topics brought forth. What an amazing story, I know I am not alone in my fascination with whales and other creatures of the ocean but to forge a relationship with a being from a completely different world would be such an amazing experience.

The book is a memoir and give me an opportunity to dive into the heart of a little whale full of characters I'd never known and all the people who had loved him. When thinking about this book, I was drawn to exploring this and tried to imagine what would happen if there was a young boy, caring for his mother, who had no support around him. The Lost Whaleis the enchanting second novel from the author of The Last Bear:the bestselling debut hardback of 2021. There's a fantastic diagrammatic double spread illustration by Levi Pinfold showing the migration routes and key facts about these magnificent and threatened 'friendly whales' ( eschrichtius robustus).Lastly I know that we all need to do our part in saving the world, but I feel ambivalent about putting that strain and feeling of helplessness on the shoulders of children. The scene with the canoes and the singing is really beautiful and poignant and excessively memorable. In his secret plans to make mum well again he discovers he has a special skill only few are born with.

He's suddenly sure that if he can somehow find a way to connect her with these gentle giants - and especially with a particular whale named White Beak - she will get better and come to join him in California.It is my hope that in The Lost Whale I have captured all of this and more, and I feel very honoured to share Rio and White Beak’s adventure with you.

It is quite a sad one, a lot sadder than her first book I think, but it does end on a nope of hope and I like the focus on taking some time for your own mental health. Marina is a whale watcher and she guides Rio into an understanding of the power of the sea and the beauty and majesty of its giant inhabitants, whales. Me gusta también el enfoque concreto que se le da, no es abstracto, te habla de las ballenas y, aun más concretamente de una ballena con la que Rio siente una conexión emocional, lo cual ayuda a despertar mayor interés en el lector.

This book is about a beautiful soul and the decision he made and the humans that scramble to figure out was is best for him while wondering all the time if they have any clue as to what that is. There are no words to describe how much I hated this book, but I'll do my best so you don't make the same mistake.
