Description

It’s the perfect microphone for On-Air Personalities, Announcers, Podcasting Studios, Streamers, and Competitive Gamers. Earthworks Audio includes a 3/8" screw thread attachment with the Ethos, saving me from digging around in boxes of miscellaneous accessories. Vocals sound fantastic even on a flat EQ, and a small amount of processing delivers broadcast-level audio.

My first impressions of the Ethos microphone lined up with the mission statement advertised by Earthworks Audio; to be sophisticated and uncomplicated. If the Ethos feels excessive, the Elgato Wave DX with Wave XLR offers one of the most affordable avenues for XLR microphones. If you’re really serious about the quality of your live streams, podcasts or voiceovers, then consider it a solid investment. One person’s “accurate transient capture” is another person’s “extended high‑frequency response”, so it’s no surprise that Earthworks claim a frequency response of 20Hz to 30kHz for the ETHOS. As a condenser microphone, it’ll pick up a much wider range of frequencies compared to the dynamic capsule on the ICON, and so delivers a much truer sound. The filter design is undoubtedly very similar to the famous Shure SM7b, and one that you’ll find is very effective!

When we speak, some of the sound we hear gets conducted through the bones in our skull, reaching us faster than soundwaves travelling through the air.

It offers superior frequency response and low-noise performance that make it ideal for use in professional audio applications. The high level of craftsmanship is immediately obvious and the unmistakable care and dedication that went into its design and construction is simply magnificent. Windows Central is part of Future US Inc, an international media group and leading digital publisher. Earthworks Audio doesn't manufacture cables, and you'll need to provide 24-48v 10mA of Phantom power to power the Ethos.

It’s also a professional-caliber tool and is best suited for people that will be earning income using it.

Its high-quality construction and robust performance make it an ideal choice for broadcast engineers and other professionals looking for a reliable and accurate microphone. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The shell is in similar proportions to that of the SM7B, but is a little smaller, and lacks that mic’s yoke.
